I am Li Jin,Chairman of the Student Union of Chenguang High School.I am writing to inform you of our donate
In order to promote the friendship between we two schools,our school has made∧appeal to  the students to donate books to your Chinese class.The books can be used for reading materials or reference book in your Chinese class.The students in our school have taken an actively part in the activity.So far,we had collected 80story books,25magazines or 20Chinese-English dictionaries.We will take the books over to you if we take part in the summer camp to be hold in your school in July.
解析:
1.donate-donation.
2.we-our.
3.appeal前加an.考查冠词.appeal在本句里表示"呼吁",所以用make an appeal to sb表示"对某人做出呼吁",所以appeal前加an.
4.for-as.考查介词.reading materials or reference book 表示"阅读材料或参考书",所以用be used as表示"当做…来用".而 be used for表示"被用来做什么",所以for改为as.
5.book-books. 和上文 our school has made∧appeal to  the students to donate books to your Chinese class用名词复数books.
6.actively-active. 修饰名词part 用形容词active.take an active part in 表示"积极参加".
7.had-have.
8.or-and.
9.if-when.考查连词.  we take part in the summer camp to be hold in your school in July表示"我们七月份去你们学校参加夏令营",所以用when引导时间状语从句.
10.hold-held.

英语被动语态的基本结构是"be+过去分词",由此我们可以推出不定式被动式的构成即为"to be+过去分词",如to be sold,to be studied,to be seen,to be given等等.
He did not like his idea to be laughed.
正:He did not like his idea to be laughed at.

3.In colleges around the country, most students are also workers.
The reality of college can be pretty different from the images presented in movies and television.Instead of the students who wake up late, party all the time, and study only before exams, many colleges are full of students with pressing schedules of not just classes and activities, but real jobs, too.
This isn't a temporary phenomenon. The share of working students has been on the rise since the 1970s,and one-fifth of students work year round.About one-quarter of those who work while attending school have both a full-course load and a full-time job.The arrangement can help pay for tuition (学费) and living costs, obviously. And there's value in it beyond the direct cause:such jobs can also be critical for developing important professional and social skills that make it easier to land a job after graduation. With many employers looking for students with already-developed skill sets,on-the-job training while in college can be the best way to ensure a job later on.
But it's not all upside.Even full-time work may not completely cover the cost of tuition and living expenses. The study notes that if a student worked a full-time job at the federal minimum wage, they would earn just over $15,000 each year, certainly not enough to pay for tuition, room, and board at many colleges without some serious financial aid. That means that though they're sacrificing time away from the classroom, many working students will still graduate with at least some debt. And working full time can reduce the chance that students will graduate at all,by cutting into the time available for studying and attending classes.
There is little reward for attending but not finishing college.Students who wind up leaving school because of difficulty in managing work and class are likely to find themselves stuck in some of the same jobs they might have gotten if they hadn't gone at all.The difficulty of working too much while in school can create a cycle that pushes students further into debt without receiving any of the financial or career benefits.

4.From the health point of view we are living in an amazing age.We are free from many of the most dangerous diseases.A large number of once deadly illnesses can now be cured by modern medicine.It is almost certain that one day medicines will be found for the most stubborn remaining diseases.The expectation of life has increased greatly.But though the possibility of living a long and happy life is greater than ever before,every day we witness the unbelievable killing of men,women and children on the roads.Man Vs the motor-car!It is a never-ending battle which man is losing.
Thousands of people all over the world are killed or horribly killed each year and we are quietly sitting back and letting it happen. It has been rightly said that when a man is sitting behind a steering wheel (方向盘),his car becomes the extension of his personality.There is no doubt that the motor-car often brings out a man's very worst qualities.People who are normally quiet and pleasant may become unrecognizable when they are behind a steering-wheel.They say,they are ill-mannered and aggressive,willful as two-year-olds and completely selfish.Their hidden angers and disappointments seem to be brought to the surface by the act of driving.
The surprising thing is that society smiles so gently on the motorist and seems to forgive his behavior.Everything is done for his convenience.Cities are allowed to become almost uninhabitable because of heavy traffic; towns are made ugly by huge car parks; the countryside is ruined by road networks; and the deaths become nothing more than a number every year,to be easily forgotten.
It is high time a world rule was created to reduce this senseless waste of human life.With regard to driving,the laws of some countries are unbelievable lenient (宽容的) and even the strictest are not strict enough.A rule which was universally accepted could only have an obviously beneficial effect on the accident
rate.
Here are a few examples of some of the things that might be done.The driving test should be standardized and made far more difficult than it is; all the drivers should be made to take a test every three years or so; the age at which young people are allowed to drive any vehicle should be raised to at least 21; all vehicles should be put through strict tests for safety each year.Even the smallest amount of alcohol in the blood can damage a person's driving ability.Present drinking and driving laws(where they exist) should be made much stricter.Speed limits should be required on all roads.Governments should lay down safety specifications for car factories,as has been done in the USA.All advertising stress power and performance should be banned.These measures may not sound good enough.But surely nothing should be considered as too severe if it results in reducing the number of deaths.After all,the world is for human beings,not motor-cars.

66.What is the main idea of this passage?D
A.Traffic accidents are mainly caused by motorists.
B.Thousands of people all over the world are killed each year.

1.Parents who help their children with homework may actually be bringing down their school grades.Other forms of prenatal involvement,including volunteering at school and observing a child's class,also fail to help,according to the most recent study on the topic.
The findings challenge a key principle of modern parenting(养育子女) where schools expect them to act as partners in their children's education.Previous generations concentrated on getting children to school on time,fed,dressed and ready to learn.
Kaith Robinson,the author of the study,said,"I really don't know if the public is ready for this but there are some ways parents can be involved in their kids'education that leads to declines in their academic performance.One of the things that was consistently negative was parents'help with homework."Robinson suggested that may be because parents themselves struggle to understand the task."They may either not remember the material their kids are studying now,or in some cases never learnt it themselves,but they're still offering advice."
Robinson assessed parental involvement performance and found one of the most damaging things a parent could do was to punish their children for poor marks.In general,about 20% of parental involvement was positive,about 45% negative and the rest statistically insignificant.
Common sense suggests it was a good thing for parents to get involved because"children with good academic success do have involved parents",admitted Robinson.But he argued that this did not prove parental involvement was the root cause of that success."A big surprise was that Asian-American parents whose kids are doing so well in school hardly involved.They took a more reasonable approach,conveying to their children how success at school could improve their lives."

30.The underlined expression"parental involvement"in Paragraph 1probably means.C
A.parents'expectation on children's health
B.parents'control over children's life
C.parents'participation in children's education
D.parents'plan for children's future
31.What is the major finding of Robinson's study?D
A.Modern parents raise children in a more scientific way.
B.Punishing kids for bad marks is mentally damaging.
C.Parents are not able to help with children's homework.
D.Parental involvement is not so beneficial as expected.
32.The example of Asian-American parents implies that parents should.B
A.set a specific life goal for their children
B.help children realize the importance of schooling
C.spend more time improving their own lives
D.take a more active part in school management.
8.Some years ago industries had more freedom than they have now,and they did not need to be as careful as they must today.They did not need to worry a lot about the safety of the new products that they developed.They took little notice of the health and safety of the people who worked for them.Often new products were dangerous for the people who used them and the conditions in the work place had very bad effects on the health of the workers.
Of course,sometimes there were real disasters which attracted the attention of governments and showed the need for changes.Also scientists who were doing research into the health of workers sometimes produced information which governments could not ignore.At such times,there were inquiries into the causes of the disasters or the problems.New safety rules were often introduced as a result of these inquires; however,the new rules came too late to protect the people who died or who became seriously ill.
Today many governments have special departments which protect customers and workers.In the US,for example,there is a department which examines new planes and gives warnings about possible problems.It also makes the rules that aircraft producers must follow.Another department controls the foods and drugs that companies sell.A third department looks at the places where people work,and then reports any companies that are breaking the laws which protect the health and safety of workers.Of course,new government departments and new laws cannot prevent every accident or illness,but they are having some good results.Our work places are safer and cleaner than before.The planes and cars which we use for travel are better.Producers are thinking more about the safety and health of the people who buy and use their products.

56.What had bad effects on the health of the workers?(No more than 6 words)The conditions in the work place/the working conditions.
57.In what ways do the departments protect customers and workers?(No more than 20 words)By testing new products, controlling foods and drugs and examining work places.
58.Please explain the underlined phrase"took little notice of"in the first paragraph in English.(No more than 5 words)
paid little attention to/ignored
59.What is the passage mainly about?(No more than 15 words)The changes of safety and health of workers and customers.
60.Do you think our working or living place is safer and cleaner than before?Please give one or two examples.(No more than 20 words)Yes,the river around us is cleaner than before; the traffic is safer..
15.It happened to me recently.I was telling someone how much I had enjoyed reading Barack Obama's Dreams From My Father and how it had changed my views of our President.A friend I was talking to agreed with me that it was,in his words,"a brilliantly(精彩地)written book".However,he then went on to talk about Mr.Obama in a way which suggested he had no idea of his background at all.I sensed that I was talking to a book liar(说谎的人).
And it seems that my friend is not the only one.Approximately two thirds of people have lied about reading a book which they haven't.In the World Book Day's"Report on Guilty Secrets",Dreams From My Father is at number 9.The report lists ten books,and various authors,which people have lied about reading,and as I'm not one to lie too often (I'd hate to be caught out ),I'll admit here and now that I haven't read the entire top ten.But I am pleased to say that,unlike 42percent of people,I have read the book at number one,George Orwell's 1984.I think it's really brilliant.
The World Book Day report also has some other interesting information in it.It says that many people lie about having read Jane Austen,Charles Dickens,Fyodor Dostoevsky (I haven't read him,but haven't lied about it either) and Herman Melville.
When they were asked why they lied,the most common reason was to"impress"someone they were speaking to.This could be tricky if the conversation became more in-depth!
But when asked which authors they actually enjoy,people named J.K.Rowling,John Grisham,Sophie Kinsella (ah,the big sellers,in other words).Forty-two percent of people asked admitted they turned to the back of the book to read the end before finishing the story (I'll come clean:I do this and am astonished that 58percent said they had never done so).

29.How did the author find his friend a book liar?D
A.By judging his manner of speaking.
B.By looking into his background.
C.By mentioning a famous name.
D.By discussing the book itself.
30.By lying about reading,a person hopes toB.
A.control the conversation
B.appear knowledgeable
C.learn about the book
D.make more friends
31.What is the author's attitude to 58% of readers?C
A.Favorable
B.Uncaring
C.Doubtful
D.Friendly.
