                                                              Zhang Haidi
     When she was five years old, Zhang Haidi suffered from^① a serious illness which^② led to high paralysis,
but she didn't lose heart^③ and never sit around, feeling sorry for herself^④. Full of confidence, she fought
against disease bravely. In addition^⑤, she often helped out other disabled people in need and gave them
encouragement to live as rich and full a life as healthy people do^⑥ whatever difficulty they may meet with.
In many ways, her disability helped her to grow stronger and become more independent.
     Zhang is dying for knowledge^⑦. Although she missed the chance to go to school, she finished all the
courses of primary and secondary schools. She learned French, Germany as well as English. Besides, she
studied university and postgraduate courses for her master's degree. Her English was so good that she
translated her Seaside Clinic and other English novels. She also wrote many books.
     Such is Zhang Haidi, a good example we all should learn from. ^⑧
