The Chinese Lunar New Year is the most important festival for the Chinese．It falls on the first day of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar．On New Year’s Eve they have a family feast．Then they stay up till midnight to welcome the New Year with firecrackers．On New Year’s Day, people visit their relatives and friends to exchange New Year’s greetings．Children receive “lucky money” wrapped in red paper．Lion dances and other performances are also parts of the celebrations, which usually last for around three days．
