Celebrity Obsession Harming British Students David Beckham waves beside his wife Victoria at a party at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles July 22 ,2007.

An unhealthy obsession (沉迷,着魔) with celebrity culture is 1        the academic success of British students,a survey of teachers found on Friday, with celebrity 2        the Beckhams the favorite inspiration.

Many students are ignoring career"aspirations to 3        the chance of fame instead, the As?sociation of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) survey found.

Almost twothirds of teachers said 4        stars were the type of celebrity most pupils wanted to emulate (效法,尽力赶上) while more than half of students wanted to be 5        stars.

The celebrities students 6        to be most like, the 7       said, were Los Angelesbased David and Victoria Beckham,8      Britain's most famous couple.

Soccer player "Becks" topped the poll,9       more than half the teachers saying their students 10        themselves on the 32-year-old. In second place, with almost a third of the poll's vote, was his 33 yearold wife and pop star "Posh".

In an era of reality, television "stars" and a media fixation (裤好,病态的迷恋) with celebri?

ties,a majority of teachers said celebrity culture 11        impacted the aspirations of their pupils.

Almost half of the 300 teachers polled said pupils tried to look like and/or 12       like ce?lebrities they most 13       ,fuelling fears that girls particularly 14        in "unsuitable",or pro?vocative (刺激的,挑衅的,挑逗的) styles.

"We are not surprised about infiltration (浸润,渗入) of celebrity culture in schools ― it 15        the current media obsession with celebrity and the effect of celebrity culture 16        soci?ety as a whole," ATL general secretary Mary Bousted said in a statement.

"Celebrities can have a 17       effect on pupils. They can raise pupils' aspirations and am?bitions for the future. However ... celebrity culture can perpetuate (使永存,使不朽) the notion that celebrity status is the greatest achievement and reinforces the 18        that other career op?tions are not 19      .”

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard ranked 20        on the favorites list with 26 percent,ac?tress Keira Knightley finished fourth (25 percent) .

Other celebrities on the list includedU.  S.heiress and socialite Paris Hilton (sixth) and Leona Lewis,a winner ofBritain's "The X Factor" television talent show (ninth) .
