A big earthquake happened in Wenchuan, Sichuan Province on May 12, 2008. Before the earthquake, the chickens and pigs in the farmyard were too nervous to eat. The water pipes in some buildings cracked and burst. However , people thought little of these events. Soon the city lay in ruins and millions of people were trapped under the ruins. The number of the dead reached 80 thousand. But all hope was not lost. Rescue workers came to help. They dug out those who were trapped and buried the dead. What’s more, they built shelters for survivors. Slowly, the city began to breathe again.
