A friend of mine met with an accident driving in the darkness. His legs were so hurt that he couldn’t move. What was 1 , he found himself unable to ask for help—his mobile phone went out of 2 as a result of the exhausted(用尽的)battery. Nothing could be done but 3 in the cold wilderness. It was 8 hours later that day broke, and then the 4 of the rescue.
It was almost 5 that he could stand the horror in the darkness for so long. Even more surprising was his 6 ,“First of all I checked up my 7 condition and found myself not in deadly danger. As there was no 8 to call for help, I leaned back in my seat trying my best to keep the wound from 9 .In this way I dozed(打盹)off.”
His story put an end to my regret for the 10 of an exploration adventure that happened last year. A group of young men 11 to explore a mountain cave and got lost. 12 to find a way out in the dark cave they were frightened and ran anxiously without a sense of 13 . Finally they fell dead because of fear and exhaustion. According to the 14 people that found them, the place where they got lost was only about 10 meters away from the 15 of the cave. If they have stayed on the spot when they lost their way and have tried to 16 themselves, they would have probably sensed a faint light flashing not far away.
Don’t you think that you can compare it with 17 itself? When you meet with difficulties in life, you are lost in darkness. 18 you that it’s unclear yet and you needn’t put up struggle 19 . It seems to be a negative attitude, 20 a person who can do so must have foresight as well as a great courage in the first place.

My friend Karen and I were always together. Karen was only a few months older than I. I always thought she was so beautiful, with long hair and blue eyes. I loved Karen so much because she liked me for being the way I was. I could be myself and share my secrets with her and I never felt like I was being judged.
We had so much fun and were really quite silly. One time I asked my mom to make us the same dresses so we could pretend we were twins.
We continued as best friends throughout grade school. One day, Karen was going to another friend’s place and asked me to come along, but I couldn’t go because I had a babysitting job that afternoon. We walked together to the Becker’s home where I was to babysit and then she continued on her way without me. We had agreed that I would meet her at the corner when she returned and I finished my job.
At four o’clock I rushed to the corner so I wouldn’t be late for meeting Karen. Just as I arrived at the corner, I saw Karen crossing the street. In a second it happened. I saw Karen’s body fly up in the sky. A car had hit her!
Karen was on life support for a week before it was decided that they would allow her to go in peace. Karen’s parents wanted to donate her organs(器官)to the hospital, but there was nothing left healthy enough to be used because she was hit so hard.
I have never got so close to another person since Karen died. I do miss her! Do you cherish(珍惜)your friends? If you don’t, please do, as you may lose them one day.
