Let children learn to judge their own work. A child learning to talk does not learn by being corrected all the time :if corrected too much, he will stop talking. He notices a thousand times a day the difference between the language he uses and the language those

Around him use. Bit by bit .he makes the necessary changes to make his language like other people's. In the same way, children learn to do all the other things: they should learn to do without being taught, such as to walk, run, climb,  whistle, ride a bicycle—compare their own performances with those of more skilled people, and slowly make the needed changes. But in school we never give a child a chance to find out his mistakes and correct them for himself. We do it all for him. We act as if we thought that he would never notice a mistake unless it was pointed out to him, or correct it unless he was made to .Let him work out, with the help of other children if he wants it, what this word says, what the  answer is to that problem, whether this is a good way of saying or doing this or not.

If it is a matter of right answer, as it may be in mathematics or science, give him the answer book. Let him correct his own papers. Why should we teachers waste time on such routine(常规)work? Our job should be to help the child when he tells us that he can’t find the way to get the right answer .Let the children learn what all educated persons must some day learn ,how to measure their own understanding, how to know what they   know or do not know.

According to the passage ,the best way for children to learn things is by______

A .listening to skilled people's advice

B .asking older people many questions.

Do fight against painting pollution
Do you know what kind of things the young people are reading? More and more 21_  and teachers have noticed another kind of pollution, which comes from the printed papers 22   on streets.
These printed things  23 newspapers but have hardly anything to do with _24_. You can only find reading materials badly made up there—some are too strange for anyone to   25  ; others are frightening stories of something _26_. However, many of the young readers are getting interested in such 27  reading, which 28  them what they should pay for their breakfast and brings them nightmares and immoral ideas in  29 . Homework is left 30  and daily games lost.
These sellers stand about on streets selling their papers well. The writers, publishers and printers,  31  they are, we never know, are  32  their silent money.
The sheep-skinned wolf’s story seems to have been forgotten once again. Why not 33  this kind of thing? Yes, both teachers and parents have asked each other for more strict control of the young readers. 34  , the more you want to forbid it, the more they want to have a look at it.  35  you may even find several children, driven by their curious natures,  36  one patched paper, which has traveled from hand to hand.
It really does 37 to our society. It has already formed a sort of moral pollution. The  38   teachers and parents need more powerful support in their protection of the young generation. At the same time, the young   39    need more interesting books to help them  40  those ugly paper.

They haven’t spoken to each other at the breakfast table for years. The husband is reading his newspaper. We can’t see his face. The wife looks very worried as she gets a cup of tea ready for him. Today she is using a new kind of tea for the first time. The husband picks up his cup. He isn’t interested. He tastes his tea. Suddenly he puts down his newspaper. Something is different! Can it be the tea? He takes another taste. It’s wonderful. He smiles. He looks at his wife and says in surprise, “Doris, when did you cut your hair?” Doris is pleased. She answers, “Two months ago.” Doris asks, “Herbie, when did your hair begin to become white?” He answers, “A long time ago.” Doris says, “We have been together for many years, but we never cared about each other.” Now they aren’t worried any longer. I have a friend who lives by a three-word philosophy: Seize the moment. Just possibly, she may be the wisest woman on this planet. Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule, didn't know it was coming or are too strict to depart from their routine.

I can't count the times I called my sister and said,“How about going to lunch in half an hour?” She would gasp and stammer(结结巴巴地说), “I can't. I have clothes on the line. My hair is dirty. I wish I had known yesterday. I had a late breakfast. It looks like rain.”And my personal favorite response:“It's just Monday.”She died a few years ago. We never did have lunch together. From then on, I've tried to be a little more flexible.

Life has a way of going faster as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises made to ourselves gets longer. One morning, we awaken, and all have to show for our lives is repetition of “I'm going to”,“I plan on” and “Someday, when things are settled down a bit.”

When anyone calls my“seize the moment” friend, she is open to adventure and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new mind on new ideas. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious. You talk with her for five minutes, and you're ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of Rollerblades and skip an elevator for a bungee cord.

My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream. The other day, I stopped the car and bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I would have died happy.

Now go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to, not something on your SHOULD DO list.

D.it indicates the time when they can have lunch together

3.The underlined word “contagious” in the fourth paragraph means “_________”.

A.appropriate        B.influential         C.practical          D.evident

4.What is the purpose of the writer by writing this passage?

A.To suggest how time flies.

B.To persuade busy people to relax.

C.To advise people to keep their promise.

D.To convince readers to be flexible on their schedule for practical joy.
