I dreamed I had an interview with God.

“So you would like to interview me?” God asked. “If you have the time,” I said. “My time is eternity(永恒),” God smiled, “What questions do you have(36)_________for me?” “What surprises you most about humankind?” God answered, “That they (37)__________ bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children(38)_________. That they live as if they will never die, and die (42)__________ they had never lived.” God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while.

And then I asked, “(43)__________ a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to(44) ___________?” He answered, “To learn they (45)__________ make anyone love them. All they can do is to let themselves love(46)____________. To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness. To learn that it only(47)___________ a few seconds to open profound(深的) wounds in those they love, and it can take many years to heal (48)__________. To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is the one who need the (49)___________. To learn that there are people who love them(50)____________, but simply have not yet learned how to express or show their(51)___________. To learn that two people can look at the same thing and (52)___________ it differently. To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one(53)____________, but they must also forgive themselves.”

“Thank you for your(54) ___________,” I said humbly. “Is there anything else you would like(55)_____________ to know?” God smiled and said, “Just to know that I am always here.”

You may not realize it, but you are doing more than just studying when you are at school. The school is also the place where you learn__________. But this is not always easy. What can you do if you just don’t like one of your classmates?

If you discover that you have problems getting along with your classmates or friends, the most important thing to learn is tolerance. Tolerance is the ability to realize and respect the differences in others. We can not change the way that other people do, so it is important to learn to live happily with them.

Tolerance will make everyone get on better with each other. Knowing others constantly makes us  understand others’differences. Something different does not exactly mean that it is bad. Tolerance teaches us to keep an even temper and an open mind.

You need to remember an old saying, “Treat others how you want to be treated.” You would like to be treated kindly by your classmates, so it is important to treat them kindly too. If you tolerate something, it does not mean that you have to like it. No one is asking you to change who you are or what you believe in.Tolerance just means that you should respect the differences in others and not try to make them change.

It is important to practice tolerance, because it will make everyone’s life easier. Learn to accept people for their different abilities and interests. The world is very different, and practicing tolerance in your own school and city can help make a difference.

Six Ways to Improve Reading Comprehension

Help your child keep what he reads—a crucial skill, especially as he gets older and needs to gain important information from textbooks.

Have him read aloud. This forces him to go slower, which gives him more time to process what he reads.  71

Provide the right kinds of books. Make sure your child gets lots of practice reading books that aren’t too hard.  72  Stopping any more often than that to figure out a word makes it tough for him to focus on the overall meaning of the story.

73  To gain meaning from text, your child needs to read quickly and smoothly—a skill known as fluency. Rereading familiar, simple books gives your child practice at decoding words quickly so he'll become more fluent.

Talk to the teacher. If your child is struggling hard with comprehension, he may need more help with his reading—for example, building his vocabulary or practicing phonics skills.

Supplement class reading. If his class is studying a particular theme, look for easy-to-read books or magazines on the topic. Some prior knowledge will make his way through tougher classroom texts.

Talk about what he's reading. This “verbal processing” helps him remember and think through the themes of the book.  74 For example:

Before: “What interests you in this book? What doesn't?”

●During: “  75 Is it turning out the way you thought it would? ”

●After: “Can you summarize the book? What did you like about it?”

A.Reread to build fluency.

B.What's going on in the book?

C.Look up new words in the dictionary.

D.Do you know all the characters in the story?

E. Ask questions before, during, and after a reading session.

F. Plus, he's not only seeing the words, he's hearing them, too.

G. He should recognize at least 90 percent of the words without any help.

I don’t like my parents. They always tell me I should do this, and should not do that. It sometimes makes me angry,” said Liu Dan, a middle school student in Beijing. Do you have the same problem? Perhaps your parents had the same problem when they were your age long ago. Why does it seem that some parents are not so friendly in their children’s eyes?

One of the biggest things is when someone becomes a parent, he or she likes worrying things. They worry about everything about you from the time you were born. They do a lot for you, though something would make you angry, because they care about you and worry about you. They worry about your choice of friends, the food you eat, your work at school, how much sleep you get, etc. All these things are part of your life. They want you to grow up healthily and happily.

So how can you make things easier on yourself? It’s easier than you think. Just make sure your parents know what you’re doing. Get them to know your friends. Call them if you stay somewhere else later than usual. Say sorry to them when you make mistakes. Take responsibility for what you have done. Talk about your ideas with them. They may talk about theirs with you.

Most of all, try to think about why your parents do this or do that. They are still practicing being parents and need help you can give them. Someday, when you become a parent, they may be able to help you how to get on with your children.
