There is a popular belief among parents that schools are no longer interested in spelling. No school I have taught in has ever ignored spelling or considered it unimportant as a basic skill There are, however, vastly different ideas about how to teach it, or how much priority it must be given over in general language development and writing ability. The problem is, how to encourage a child to express himself freely and confidently in writing without holding him back with the complexities of spelling?

If spelling becomes the only focal point of his teacher's interest, clearly a bright child will be likely to "play safe". He will tend to write only words within his spelling range, choosing to avoid adventurous language. That's why teachers often encourage the early use of dictionaries and pay attention to content rather than technical ability.

I was once shocked to read on the bottom of a sensitive piece of writing about a personal experience: "This work is terrible! There are far too many spelling errors and your writing is illegible." It may have been a sharp criticism of the pupil's technical abilities in writing, but it was also a sad reflection on the teacher who had omitted to read the essay, which contained some beautiful expressions of the child's deep feelings. The teacher was not wrong to draw attention to the errors, but if his priorities had centered on the child's ideas, an expression of his disappointment with the presentation would have given the pupil more motivation to seek improvement.

Many times, we find it very amusing to see people who can keep a smile on their face all the time. It’s kind of annoying, isn’t it? 1.___Let’s see some tips on how to have a positive attitude and see how that can change our lives.

2.__ It really works! If you’re stuck in a terrible situation or a negative stage of your life, all you have to do is to think of the good times that are going to come after your bad stage gets over.Hope for the best and you will get the best.

We always feel good when we help others in some way, right? There’ a sense of achievement, satisfaction and positivity associated with giving and helping.3.

Being grateful for what you have can help you to be positive. If you’re the type to be whining, complaining and groaning about the things you don’t have, we must say that you need a reality check.4. Look around you and see other people who don’t have enough resources like you do.

Forget the regrets of your past. Are you in a depressed mood all the time because you are carrying the burden of a trouble past with you? Then you must realize that every moment you think of a dark past with negativity, you will lose one bright moment of your present and the future.Letting go of your past is the only way you can have a positive attitude all the time.

5. Keeping fit and healthy is a critical tip in having a positive attitude. You might have all the money, success and the luxury in the world, but you won’t be able to enjoy anything if you don’t have good health.

A.So try to do a good deed a day and help others with your strengths.

B.Being unsatisfied will also be a barrier in helping you to have a positive attitude.

C.That’s because we don’t know the advantages of having a positive attitude all the time.

D.It’s no use complaining because you have already had a good life.

E.Think of the good times you are going to have.

F.Make sure you know the importance of good health.

G.Try to think about terrible and negative things in your life.

Why are so many people so afraid of failure? Quite simply because no one tells us how to fail so that failure becomes an experience that will lead to growth. We forget that failure is part of the human condition and that every person has the right to fail.

Most parents work hard at either preventing failure or protecting their children from the knowledge that they have failed. One way is to lower standards. A mother describes her child’s hasty-made table as “Perfect!” even though it doesn’t stand still. Another way is to shift blame. If John fails science, his teacher is unfair or stupid.

The trouble with failure-prevention devices is that they leave a child unequipped for life in the real world. The young need to learn that no one can be best at everything, no one can win all the time--- and that it’s possible to enjoy a game even when we don’t win. A child who’s not invited to a birthday party, who doesn’t make the honor roll on the baseball team, feels terrible, of course. But parents should not offer a quick consolation, prize or say, “It doesn’t matter.” because it does. The young should be allowed to experience disappointment—and be helped to master it.

Failure is never pleasurable. It hurts grown-ups and children alike. But it can make a positive contribution to your life once you learn to use it. Step one is to ask “Why did I fail?”

Don’t blame someone else. Ask yourself what you did wrong, how you can improve. If someone else can help, don’t be shy about inquiring. Success, which encourages repetition of old behavior, is not nearly as good a teacher as failure. You can learn from a bad party how to give a good one, from an ill-chosen first house what to look for in a second. Even a failure that seems definitive can prompt fresh thinking, a change of direction. After 12 years of studying ballet, a friend of mine auditioned for a professional company. She was turned down. “ Would further training help?” she asked. The ballet master shook his head. “ You will never be a dancer”, he said, “You haven’t the body for it.”

In such cases, the way to use failure is to take stock(估量) of the situation bravely asking, “What have I left? What else can I do?” My friend put away her shoes and moved into dance treatment center, a field where she’s both able and useful. Failure frees one to take risks because there’s less to lose. Often there is recovery of energy—a way to find new possibilities.
