The first day I arrived at Honolulu, I felt more depressed than excited One of my senior (资格老的)coworkers who picked me up at the airport told me that it would probably take twice the energy and more 1 to get my Ph. D degree of Law in the University of Hawaii 2 with at home. Well, to a girl who doesn’t expect to pass all her 3 years as a student, this was really an emotional attack. But I made my way towards my first 4 place. As a matter of fact, it’s a small single room in a house shared with a young Chinese couple, whom I communicated with via email before I came here. 5 it’s very noisy with a highway nearby and cost me $350 per month, I should say I was 6 enough because many other new students had to sleep in their friends’ sofas or stay at expensive 7 . Housing in Honolulu is extremely tight, if you want to 8 a quiet, nice and comfortable place, you should pay no less than $600 per month.
The first morning when I woke up, I heard the barking of dogs from Hawaii Humane Society (a place for people to adopt pets)across the street. Then I 9 that my new life had begun. Some 10 things happened in the first week as follows:
I couldn’t tell dimes or quarters from the five－cent coins, 11 I insisted on using bills in the supermarket. 12 , so many changes were accumulated (积累)in my wallet.

I graduated from a small public school in Michigan．One day,Mr．Ledy,our football coach,asked me to play football．I couldn't help 1 ：me,play football? I was six feet tall and was not much over a hundred pounds in weight．I thought that they might just need another fool to increase the number of the players．However,he was persistent(坚持的) and 2 I joined the football team．That turned out to be one of my best decisions as a kid．
Our worst game ever was the one against Crystal Falls．They beat us 56 to 6．Yeah! That was a football not a basketball 3 ．We played them again when we were seniors．They 4 us again but the score was much more 5 ,30 to 20．
Coach Ledy would not let that 6 again．He encouraged us to beat them,to pay them back．And we did so in the last game we played before 7 ．I had scored 6 points alone in the game．Coach Ledy praised me．It was a huge 8 for me．
Was I a football hero? Ha! Ha! No,I couldn't 9 it without our team．The thing I learned through football was 10 ．We won as a team and we 11 as a team．
I think Mr．Ledy would be proud of me if he knew that I had broken the athletic 12 at the University of Michigan．I'm 13 to him as I would not have today's honor without him．I'll 14 life's final war with pain to win the victory；I'll seek the lights of glory wholeheartedly and I'll 15 on working hard so as not to let him down．
