8.In a very special course at Knnet School, the social-science teacher Adam Smith guides his students through the"married life".Unlike the traditional course,Adam makes his students experience the real problems married ones may face like housing and child care."No one tells kids about money-managing problems,"says Adam.

In the fifth week, the couples"have a baby"and then struggle to cover the costs of baby clothes and furniture. In week eight, the marriage comes to the breaking point by such disaster as a mother-in-law's moving in or death. It's all over by week ten (the tenth year of marriage). After serious discussion with lawyers about alimony (赡养费) and child support, the students get divorced (离婚).
Adam's course, which has"married"1,000 students since its beginning six years ago,is widely supported by parents and students. Some of the students have found the experience making them realize their real life marry plans are wrong.Marianne Baldrica,16,who tried"marriage"last term with her boyfriend Eric Zook,15,said,"Eric and I used to get along pretty well before we took the course together. But I wanted to live in the city,he wanted the country. He wanted lots of kids,I wanted no kids. It's been four weeks since the course ended and Eric and I are just starting to talk to each other again."

19.October 15th is the Global Handwashing Day.Activities are planned in more than 20 countries to get millions of people in the developing world to wash their hands with soap. For example, donors(捐赠者) will give 150,000 bars of soap to schools in Ethiopia.
Experts say people around the world wash their hands every day,but very few use soap at so-called important moments. These include after using the toilet, after cleaning a baby and before touching food.
Global Handwashing Day is the idea of the Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing with Soap.Partners include the United Nations Children's Fund,American government agencies, the World Bank and soap makers Unlever and Procter and Gamble. The organizers say all soaps are equally effective at removing disease-causing germ(细菌).They say the correct way to wash is to wet your hands with a small amount of water and cover them with soap.Rub it into all areas, including under the fingernails(指甲).Rub for at least twenty seconds. Then rinse well under running water. Finally, dry your hands with a clean cloth or wave them in the air.
The Partnership for Handwashing says soap is important because it increases the time that people spend in washing hands.Soap also helps to break up the dirt that holds most of the germs. And it usually leaves a pleasant smell. The Partnership for Handwashing also says washing with soap before eating or after using the toilet could save more lives than any vaccine(疫苗)or medicine.Hand washing could also prevent the spread of other diseases. When people get germs on their hands, they can infect(感染)themselves by touching their eyes, noses or mouths. Then they can infect others.

17.A strange,new dilemma faces Chinese pedestrians:should you help an elderly person who has fallen into the street?The answer seems simple.Your conscience forces you to help someone in danger.But many Chinese are discovering that some of these injured people are scammers.They accuse good Samaritans(好心人) of having knocked them over in the first place,and they file complaints in hopes of receiving large amounts of compensation.
There are frequent reports on such incidents and following disputes.On Sept 8,a new case happened in Huainan,Anhui province.Yuan Chen,a 20-year-old college student from Huainan Normal University,claimed that she helped an injured elderly woman on the street.But the woman's family has demanded that Yuan take full responsibilities for the injuries.
Since the incident happened in the security cameras'blind spot, both sides are looking for witnesses to clear their names.The local police department is also investigating the case.But how can you possibly solve a case like this,where the only evidence comes from two conflicting viewpoints?
"This kind of cases should follow the principle of‘the burden of proof lies with the person making the claim',"Ye Lin,a law professor from Renmin University of China,told China Central Television.The burden of proof means the collection of proof or evidence.In civil cases,"if you accuse someone of causing you harm or losses,you should collect convincing proof to back your claim,"said Ye."If you cannot do that,the law will not be able to support your claim."
The law may not resolve all the problems,however.Some elderly people choose to blackmail(敲诈) their helpers because they do not have health insurance.To prevent this,the country needs to put in place a better social security net.

14.What can we infer from Ye Lin,the law professor's words?C
A.Ye Lin thinks it is Yuan Chen who is responsible for gathering proof.

C.The principle regards the accused as innocent until convincing proof can be provided.
