In your spoken English class, your teacher shows you the following picture. You are asked to
describe the picture and explain how you understand it.

     立意1:努力做最好的自己 快乐生活
As can be seen in the picture, two birds are singing at the top of their voices, deeply immersed
(absorbed) in their own songs. However, when we examine the picture more closely, we can see that
the white bird is singing beautifully, with perfect musical notes coming out of its mouth, in contrast, the
black bird can only make unpleasant / noisy sounds.
I think this picture conveys the message -be your personal best / be the best of yourself. Beautifully
as the white bird can sing, it is still singing to perfect itself. Unpleasant as others may think the black bird's
voice is, the black bird is singing to improve itself. Indeed, there are so many people around us, like the
white bird, who are blessed with talents and can excel in whatever they want to do. On the other hand,
there are also people, like the black bird, who are unfortunate. Whatever they do, their results are just
the average. In my opinion, if we cannot change our birth, why bother? Just be our best selves. If we are
born clever, be outstanding. If we are born average, try to be better. Just enjoy the life as it can be.
     立意2:认识自己不足,虚心学习,不怕丢脸,努力提高
In the picture, we can see there are two birds that are singing high up in the tree. Obviously, both of
them are vigorous and devoted in their songs. However, the only difference is the melody coming out of
the white bird's beak is intoxicating (醉人的). On the contrary, the black bird's cacophony (刺耳的音
调) destroys the whole atmosphere.
I bet the poor black bird himself knows how annoying his voice is. But why is he still standing there
singing with an expert? In my opinion, that is courage and persistence of pursuing the best. Poor singer as
he is, he didn't give up his passion of singing. Humiliating himself in front of the "Pavarotti", he is actually
learning from the white bird which is his teacher in his mind. All of us might respect the little black creature's spirit from this point, but in our real life how many of us can actually do what he does? How many
times did we give up chasing our dreams just because others are better than us? How many times did we
escape from embarrassment when we knew others might laugh at our incompetence? Every single one of
us is afraid of losing face in front of others as long as we are human beings. But if we are eager to excel
at what we do, we might as well lose it and humbly learn from the best. Because only in this way, can we
truly improve ourselves and one day in the future sing aloud songs as enchanting as the white birds'
euphony.
     立意3:认识到世界的多元,要互相包容.
