15.One of the greatest influences from books I've read this year came from the book Anne of Green Gables.Anne's turning ordinary things into extraordinary things caught my eye.She is clever,fun-loving,creative,determined and occasionally a little bit absent-minded.All of these qualities remind me and help me realize that a little bit of romance,or imagination should always be a part of all of us,and can brighten up many unpleasant days.
Creativity has always been one of my strengths,but as I have gotten older it seems as if,little by little,my imagination is leaking away.There is no longer as much fun in pretending that I am a servant in a magnificent castle,or a heroine in one of my most beloved books.But there is more to imagination than pretending,isn't there?
Anne's imagination enabled her to do so many things.She could be anywhere,fly on golden wings.Anne's imagination helped her find the home where she belonged and find friends in the most unlikely places.
Anne taught me how important it was to be forgiving because you never know when it will be too late to forgive.She also showed me that being able to forgive makes a big difference in your relationships with people.
Above all,the most important thing that Anne taught me was the fact that just by being herself she was very liked by the others at school.This made me realize how important it is to be yourself.Lots of adults have told me that before but it is hard because sometimes I just want to be popular,but Anne brought the message through.
After reading the first hundred pages of Anne of Green Gables I was inspired; I had become one of Anne's kindred(同类的) spirits.

C.to be creative
D.to be innocent
27.The passage is mainly aboutD.

C.the importance of reading books
D.influences on the author from Anne of Green Gables
28.It's implied thatA.
A.the author was inspired by the book the moment he saw it
B.the author was once a servant in an old castle
C.the author was quite imaginative when young
D.the author liked pretending more than imagining.

6.Children pushed in buggies which face away from their parents may suffer longterm emotional(情感的)and language problems,according to a study published on Friday.
The research, believed to be the first of its kind, found that children who were not facing the person pushing them were less likely to talk, laugh and communicate with their parents.
The findings were based on a study of 2,722parents and babies and an experiment where 20babies were wheeled in buggies for a mile,facing their parents for half the journey and facing away for the other half.Parents using facetoface buggies were twice as likely to talk to their children while the babies'heart rates fell and they were twice as likely to fall asleep,showing that they were feeling relaxed and safe.
In addition,only one baby out of the 20studied laughed while sitting in an awayfacing buggy.
"Our data(数据) suggests that for many babies today,life in a buggy is emotionally   impoverished and possibly stressful.Stressed babies grow into anxious adults,"said Dr Suzanne Zeedyk,Developmental Psychologist at Scotland's Dundee University who carried out the research.
The study,which was published by National Literacy Trust as part of its"Talk To Your Baby"campaign,found that 62percent of all children observed travelled in awayfacing buggies.
Zeedyk said it would have a negative effect on babies'development if they spent a long time in awayfacing buggies, which would be bad to their ability to communicate with their parent at a time when their brain was developing rapidly.
Laura Barbour of the Sutton Trust,a social mobility charity which funded the research, said buggy manufacturers(制造商) should look closely at the findings.

The number matters
In some cultures,giving the wrong amount of an item can be worse than no present at all.Do not give even numbers of flowers as a gift in Russia because that's for dead people.Odd numbers of flowers are given for happy occasions,like one,three,five or seven flowers.
Just go with it
When it comes to humor,people in some countries warned visitors not to take it too seriously.Mexico is such a place where people like to laugh at others.The best family dinners are the ones where everyone is laughing out loud at making fun of someone at the table.They don't mean to harm.They just do it for fun.So visitors should feel accepted notoffended.

7."Are the volcanoes in Yellowstone National Park going to erupt anytime soon?Will the world end if it does?"People across the world have been keeping a close watch on the famous national park.
Yellowstone National Park assured (保证) guests and the public on Thursday that a super-volcano under the park was not expected to erupt anytime soon,despite a video that claimed bison (野牛) had been seen fleeing to avoid such a disaster.
Yellowstone officials, who received dozens of calls and emails since the video went online this week following an earthquake in the park, said the video actually shows bison rushing down a paved road that leads deeper into the park.
"It was a spring-like day and  theywere crazy.Contrary to online reports,it's a natural happening and not the end of the world,"park spokeswoman Ms.Green said.
Assurances by Yellowstone officials and government geologists that the ancient super-volcano beneath the park is not due to explode have actually done little to reduce fears.
Comments from a self-described survivor suggest the wildlife fleeing may be tied to"a coming eruption here at Yellowstone".
The 4.8magnitude earthquake that struck early Sunday near the Norris Geyser Basin in the northwest of Yellowstone,which extends 3,472square miles of Wyoming,Montana and Idaho,caused no injuries or damages and did not make any noticeable changes to the landscape,geologists said.
Though mild by seismic (地震的) standards,it was the largest to shake Yellowstone since a 4.8quake in February 1980."But neither the quake,the largest among hundreds that have struck the area in the last seven months,nor the uplift suggests an eruption sooner than tens of thousands of years.The chance of that happening in our lifetime is very small."said Mr.Smith,associate director at the U.S.Geological Survey's Volcano Science Center.He said the area of uplift that scientists had been tracking since August was rising at a rate of between 10centimeters and 15centimeters a year.Geologists who tracked uplift in the same area from 1996to 2003also saw rising seismic activity,he said.
