"Look, it's Baldy!" A boy shouted in my direction across the playground. Even though I was used to regular insults(侮辱) because of the 1 on my head, it was 2 horrible to hear. I sighed as I headed back to the class.

As a child, I cared much about my scars, so I 8 wore a scarf to cover them up when I left home.9 I didn't, people would call me horrible names like Baldy. Although my friends were always comforting me, they never 10 understood how it felt.
Then through the hospital I was 11 to a children's burns camp, where children like me can get any help. There, I 12 14-year-old Stephanie, whose burns are a lot more serious than mine. But she is so 13 that she never lets anyone put her down. "You shouldn't 14 what people say about what you look like because we're not different from anyone else, Holly," she 15 me. "And you don't need to wear a scarf because you look great 16 it!" For the first time in my life I could speak to someone who'd been through something 17. So weeks later, at my 13th birthday party, 18 by her bravery, I gave up my scarf and showed off my scars. It felt amazing not having to 19 away behind my scarf.

But she'll be  left with scars on her head, and of course her hair won't grow there.可以得出本题答案scars(疤痕)。Scarf(围巾);cut(伤口,切口)。
Just(仅仅;刚);seldom(很少)。
根据本句中after a bowl full of hot oil fell on my head.可以得出本题答案为burn(灼伤)。Hunger(饥饿);cold(寒冷;感冒);defeat(失败;战胜)。
Invite(邀请);force(强迫)。
Fight to do sth Learn to do sth 学做某事;return归还;decide to do sth 决定做某事。
But she'll be  left with scars on her head, and of course her hair won't grow there. Happy(愉快的);lonely(孤独的);poor(贫穷的;可怜的)。
Leave (遗留);press(按,压;新闻);occupy(占据);paint (画画)。
I cared much about my scars, so可以得出本题答案usually。
根据本句的主句people would call me horrible names like Baldy.,可以得出本句为条件状语从句,故用if。Although 尽管;since既然,因为;before在。。。之前。
There, I met 14-year-old Stephanie可以得出本题答案为introduced。
通过后文she is so strong that she never lets anyone put her down.
You shouldn't listen to what people say about what you look like because we're not different from anyone else可以得出这个女孩很强大,故选strong。
根据该句的后一句she encouraged me. Write down 写下,记下;pass on 传递;agree with同意,使。。。适应。
You shouldn't listen to what people say about what you look like because we're not different from anyone else可以得出本题答案选encourage。

Be proud of 为。。。自豪;be aware of 知道,意识到;be sick of 讨厌,厌烦;be tired of 厌倦。

Long before they became doctors, lawyers, CEO’s or real estate developers, they played in garage bands and maybe even dreamed of becoming rock stars. That’s why they signed up for Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp.

For nearly a week, the mostly middle-aged “campers” had practiced in the West 54th Street studios. They came from as far away as London and Tokyo and as close as Long Island and downtown New York to prepare for their moment of onstage glory.

“I feel like I’m 18 again,” said Jerry Goldberg, a 60-year-old investment banker and guitar player, whose family was in the audience.” I admit that I felt a little uncertain when I first got here, but this has turned out to be a wonderful experience, one of the greatest of my life.”

Everybody has two businesses, their own business and show business. This can be a life-changing experience for them. Mr. Daltrey, who has appeared at several fantasy camps, was asked why he keeps coming back.

“I’ve had people tell me that I shouldn’t be doing this, that it's bad for my image,” he acknowledged. “But that’s rubbish. Look, it’s all so positive, and everybody is having so much fun. So what’s bad about that?”

Jeff Munger, a drummer and rancher(农场主) said. “I’m at a point in my life where I’m going to spend my money on things I’m passionate about, and I’m absolutely crazy about music.”

Most of the campers are successful executives or professionals: a founder of the Oracle Computer Company, a businessman whose father invented the Big Mac, a plastic surgeon, presidents of health care and seafood companies.
