Music is nice, people seem to say, but not important. When students and parents are asked to rate subjects according to their importance, the music arts are   50   at the bottom of the list. Too often, music is viewed as mere entertainment, but certainly not an education which should be first taken into account. This view is   51  . In fact, music education is beneficial and important for all students.
Music tells us who we are. Because music is an expression of the beings who create it, it    52   their thinking and values, as well as the social   53   it came from. Rock music   54   a lifestyle just as surely as does a Schubert song. The jazz influence that George Gershwin and other musicians introduced into their music is obviously American because it came from American musical   55  . Music expresses our character and values. It gives us identity as a society.
Music provides a kind of feeling that cannot be   56   any other way.   57   can explain how the sun rises and sets. The arts explore the emotional meaning of the same phenomenon. We need every possible way to discover and   58   to our world for one simple but powerful reason: No one way can get it all.
The arts are forms of thought as powerful in what they communicate as mathematical and scientific symbols. They are ways we human being “talk” to each other. They are the   59   of civilization through which we express our fears, our curiosities, our hungers, our discoveries, our hopes. The arts are ways we give form to our ideas and imagination so that they can be   60    others. When we do not give children   61   to an important way of expressing themselves such as music, we   62   from them the meanings that music expresses.
Science and technology do not tell us what it means to be human. The   63   do. Music is an important way we express the meaning and value of peace and love.
So music education is far more   64   than people seem to realize.

Finding a suitable place to live is not easy for a student who first arrived in a strange place . I was lucky because I had booked a dormitory with the school before I arrived .. I t was a flat with seven independent rooms and a shared bathroom and kitchen . all of my flatmates are all students form Britain . I thought I was lucky to be part of this flat with these energetic young men . However , I found myself unhappy with them only a few days after I stayed there . These young people seemed never to be quiet . Usually they would not come back until late into the night .They even played football in the room whenever they like , whether it was early morning or late night . Worse still , they always had parties . Those loud music and laughter made me sleepless the whole night . Finally , I had no choice but to ask the authority to move me to another flat where most of the students were international students pursuing their master degrees . They were older in age and hold heavier study burden . So they were quieter .
My advice for those who want to study in the UK is to get in touch with the international student accommodation service of your school first and tell them to arrange for you to share a flat with graduates before you come here.

The First Day at My Senior High School
Today is September1,2012.It is the first day of my senior high school.Everything in the school is new to me.
The school is very modern. The gate of the school is artistic(艺术的). When you go through the main gate, you can see a high stadium (体育场)on the left side of the road, which has a 400-meter runaway and a soccer field with green grass. Buildings are tall and beautiful. The library is the most attractive building on the right side of the main road. There are many green trees and colorful flowers on both sides of the roads. The classrooms are amazing. They are big, clean and bright. In each classroom, there is a computer and a big screen, through which our teachers can show us tests, photos, and so on.
In my class, there are 60 students. We don’t know each other, but we are all friendly.Everyone has a smile on his/her face. When we meet, we always say “Hello”to each other.
Most of our teachers are young. Some students think young teachers cannot teach well, but I do not think so. In my opinion, young teachers are very energetic and easy to make friends with. What’s more, they may have a lot of new teaching methods.
I love my new school very much. I hope, in my new school, I can learn more from my teachers and make progress together with my classmates.
