A.Have a lovely day!                       B.Congratulations!

C.You must have driven beautifully!           D.Could you give me a lift?

【答案】

B

【解析】

试题分析:句意:--今天我把驾照拿到手了。--祝贺你。当对方告诉你好消息时,答语应是Congratulations.

It is reported that it will rain hard next Sunday.

  — ________. We' re planning to go boating that day.

  A. I don't think so B. I hope so C. I'm afraid not D. I hope not

解析:D。I don't think so 意为 “我认为不是这样”; I hope so 意为 “我希望如此”; I'm afraid not意为 “恐怕不行”; I hope not 意为 “我希望不是这样”。句意为“—据报道下周日有大雨。—……我们计划那天去乘船。”所以,应该是“我希望不是这样”。故选D。

With our   40  time, we had to read two books each from the Detroit Public Library and   41   written book reports to her. She would mark them up with check marks and highlights. My story is really my mother’s story—a woman with    54   formal education who used her position as a parent to change the lives of her children. There is no job    55   than parenting. This I believe.

One cold night, I was growing sick of my life in San Francisco. There I was walking home around one o’clock in the morning after a   31  practice at the theatre. With the opening night only a week away, I was still learning my lines by heart. I was having   32  handling my part-time job at the bank in the daytime and my acting at night at the same time. As I walked, I thought seriously about  33  both acting and San Francisco. I had  34  too much of city life.
As I walked down the  35  streets under the tall buildings, I felt very small and cold, so I began  36  both to keep warm and to keep away from any possible robbers. Very few people were still out  37  a few homeless people under blankets.
About a block from my  38 , I heard a sound behind me. I   39  quickly, half expecting to see someone with a knife or a gun. The street was empty. All I saw was a shining streetlight. Still, the noise had made me  40  so I started to run faster. Not until I reached my apartment building and unlocked the door did I   41  what the noise had been. It had been my wallet  42  to the sidewalk.
Suddenly I wasn’t cold or tired anymore. I ran out of the door and back to where I’d heard the noise. Although I searched the sidewalk   43  for 15 minutes, my wallet was   44  to be found.
Just as I was about to quit the  45  , I heard the garbage truck stop to the sidewalk next to  46  . When a voice came from the inside, “Alisa Camacho?” I thought I was dreaming. How could this man know my name? The door opened and out jumped a small blonde(金发碧眼的) man with an  47  look in his eyes. “Is this  48  you’re looking for?” He asked, holding up something like a wallet.
It was already 3 a.m. by the time I got into bed. I couldn’t get much sleep, but I had got my wallet back. I also had got back some  49  of city life. I realized the city couldn’t be a bad place  50  people were willing to help each other.

I remember my math teacher Mr. Young very well. He stood out because the kids made fun d him. He was missing one of his fingers, and always pointed at students with his middle finger.
I was not very good at English and math. No matter how hard I tried, I just could not figure out why I did not understand what all the other kids found so easy to learn.
One day, I was told that if I got one more E on my report card, I would be taken to the “big person for kids”
I tried really hard for weeks. I just couldn't understand how to make different parts of members into whole things.
The day before report cards were to come out, 1 knew that Mr. Young would give me an E, just like he always did.
I went to Mr. Young and told him that the orphanage (孤儿院) was going to send me to the big person if I got another E on my report card. He told me there was nothing he could do; it would be unfair to the other kids if he gave me a better grade than I had actually earned.
I smiled at him and said, "Mr. Young, do you know how the kids make fun of you because you’re missing your finger?" He looked at me, moved his mouth to one side and said nothing.
“They shouldn’t do that to you because you can't help having a finger, Mr. Young. Just like I can’t help not being able to learn numbers and stuff like that.” I said
The next day, when I got my report card, I tucked it into one of my books. While on the school bus, I opened it: Geography, B+; Mechanical Drawing, C-; English, D-l; History, C-; Gym, B+; Art, C; Math, D-.
That math grade was the most favorite one I ever received. Because I knew that someone in the world finally understood what it was like for me to be missing a finger inside my head.
