As we get older,we become more grateful, and grow closer to God and our faith. I recently finished writing a book on personal change, both mine and others”which will be published this spring.

Like most authors,I wrote an acknowledgment page after finishing the writ?ing. I thanked the people who helped make the book possible. Once I started,it was hard to stop. When I thought about it,there were just so many people in my life to whom I owe a countless debt of gratitude (感激) and love, and without whom I might not have been around to write the book.

One of the pleasures of growing older is the viewpoint it brings to the store of blessings that multiply in your life; growing older means growing more grateful.

Of course there is loss, heartache and disappointment too. But it is against these difficulties that our blessings stand out in sharp relief―the joy of family and friends and faith and work, and gratitude for the gifts that each new day holds. These are the things that make us whole, and that,as I daily remind myself,I am so richly blessed with. Even in those dark and troubled times I find more to be thankful for than not, much more. I bet you do too.

Gratitude is a practice of the soul that helps us live happier lives and grow clos?er to God,and our blessings are the living evidence of his grace. Look around you. I imagine you all could fill a page or two yourself with names of people and things to remember this Thanksgiving.

One of the things everyone here is thankful for is you. Without you, there is no my book. So in case I haven't said it recently, thank you for your loyalty (忠实) and support.

  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
