Students who say they never or hardly ever use dictionaries often speak English well but usually write poorly, because they make many mistakes.

The students who use dictionaries most do not learn especially well either. The ones who look up every new word do not read fast. Therefore they do not have time to read much. Those who use small two-language dictionaries have the worst problems. Their dictionaries often give only one or two words as translations of English. But one English word often has many translations in a foreign language and one foreign word has many translations in English.

The most successful students are those who use large college edition dictionaries with about 100,000 words but do not use them too often. It seems that if the result is bad, which people work for will be meaningless. Personally speak, the process of fighting for the goal is less important than the result. When we fight for our goals, we will be devoted what we are doing and try to improve us. If we fail in the end, when we look back on the beginning, we will find that we are no longer the childish one. We have grown up. What's the more, in the process of fighting, we got close to success, as the saying goes that failure are the mother of success. So don't treat the result so serious; just enjoy the process.

Lions Club Student Speech Contest

Enter to be one of two Whitney High School students to qualify for the Rocklin Lions Club Speech Contest, which is to be held this summer. A written copy of your speech is due to the College and Career Center no later than April 30th at 3:00 pm.

Can You Catch the Wildcat at the 5K Race

On April 28 th at 8:30 am, the Whitney Wildcat will leave his stadium and attempt to outrun the hundreds of runners trying to catch him!

This will be a fun exciting way to challenge yourself and provide needed funds for two great causes! The WHS track and field team is raising money for equipment. Secondly, we are raising money for the Heidi Greenwood Scholarship. All profits on T-shirt sales will go directly to the scholarship!

It isn't hard to grow up into a responsible member of the society.I can well remember an incident that happens on a rainy Sunday afternoon.I was on my way to a bookstore and was waiting for the green light at a crossing when a girl of about ten was knocked by a passing car,that drove off quickly.A man immediately rushed to the girl to give him first aid and I joined in with hesitation.Luckily,she was not bad injured and we send her to the nearest hospital.
