Dear aunt,

In the past few years, great changes have taken place in our hometown, where many tall buildings as well as new fac?tories, schools and hospitals have been built. As the streets have been widened,it is very convenient for the traffic.

In the centre of the street, there is a beautiful park, and the flowers and trees by the roadside make our hometown more beautiful. Besides, many families have got cars of their own,and their life here has become rich and colourful. And it is now easier to keep in touch with friends all over the world by e-mail.

I am sure you will be surprised at the changes when you come back.

                                     Yours £¬Li Lei

Special family bonds (Ŧ´ø) are not created by big ship vacations or buy?ing your child a new toy ,bicycle or expensive clothes. Great families are formed by making time for each other, and by listening and caring. The good news is that it costs nothii g to do these things.

Last weekend my kids and I were sitting outside the front steps of our house enjoying some sunshine after washing the car and playing with the neighbour's kids. As we sat there I had an idea that I thought would be fun. "Anne,Liz,usually on Wednesday you come home from school for lunch. What about having a picnic in the park instead?"I asked. Both Anne and Liz lit up and smiled. "Yeah,Daddy! Then we'd even have more time to play in the schoolyard£¡"they shouted.

So that's our little plan today for a simple Wednesday. I hope it will be?come one more of a huge collection of special family moments, moments when we make time for each other and do something special together.

A picnic in the park is something that works for us. My kids go to school close to the house and I work for myself in my study. I'm not saying that you should do exactly the same thing. It might not fit into your family's situation. But something will fit,and it's up to you to find out what those things are and do them. Then keep doing them. Find special things that you can do with your kids. Make it a habit. You'll love the results. When your kids are older, they won't remember the iPad you bought them,or the 22nd stuffed animal for their collection. They will remember the time you spent with them.

My name is Tina Duong. I came from Vietnam. I had a big house in Vietnam, and my family lived together. My father, mother, brother and sister,we had a business.

After 1975 my family immigrated to Malaysia by a small boat. When we were on the sea,we were very worried about the robbers on the sea,but we were very lucky. After 48 hours,we arrived in Malaysia. We stayed in Kuala Lumpur for two days before they sent us to Bulaubidong Camp. In Bulaubidong we lived there while waiting for my brother to sponsor us. We lived in the camp. We couldn't leave the camp to find firewood,vegetables- or any food for the children because it was forbidden to go outside the camp. My husband went fishing for small fish and we didn't have enough rice to cook. When the children were sick,we didn't have medicine for them.

After two years, the person who sponsored us was my husband's brother. We left the camp to go to Philip?pines. We had to study English there for six months and then we went to the United States. When we first arrived? we had trouble because we didn't speak Eng?lish very well. We didn't get used to the customs and way of life in the United States. I couldn't use the oven, turn on the tap and shower, nor vacuum (ÓÃÕæ¿ÕÎü³¾Æ÷Çåɨ) the floor because I had never met these things in my homeland.

Finally,I lived through the tough times and got to learn how things work with hard work and determina?tion. My family and I succeeded in life.
