I was diagnosed with allergies (过敏反应) when I was a little kid. Other than family, no one truly knows I have allergies, although I have to tell people it’s allergies when my eyes start to tear up. 【1】 Sometimes my friends just tease in a friendly way.

2 I look like a normal kid. I don’t mind telling people about my allergies—after all, it’s normal to have them. Having allergies hasn’t affected my self-confidence.

3 For example, I am a big traveler and I would enjoy going to see the cherry blossoms in Washington, D.C. But when I come anywhere within a 10-foot range of cherry blossoms it feels like I lose almost all my senses! Even though it’s only temporary, I still feel miserable.

My allergies haven’t stopped me from traveling when I can, though. My class trip was to Williamsburg in Virginia. At first it was supposed to be during cherry blossom time, and that had me worried. 4

I’ve had to rethink some of my dreams, too. Since I’m allergic to animals with fur, I may need to adjust my hopes of being a veterinarian (兽医) or working in an agricultural-science department. 5

Now I have learned to deal with my allergies and even see the good side sometimes. Having allergies has taught me not to be prejudiced about people’s health conditions.

A. I do get made fun of.

B. My allergies have been getting better.

C. If I don’t take my medicine I can get really bad breath.

D. You can’t tell by looking at me that I have a health condition.

E. Fortunately, it was changed to February, so I went and had the best time!

F. But I’m interested in so many things and there are plenty of other careers out there!

G. Sure, my allergies have held me back from doing some of the things that I love to do.

【题目】A recent study has shown that eating a small amount of dark chocolate every day could be good for your health. Scientists have found that a regular 2 ounces can help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of having a heart attack or stroke(中风)without any weight gain. But take care before you reach for a large bar. The effects are canceled out if more than 30 calories are taken into your body each day, the researchers warn.

It’s already known that a chemical called polyphenol(多酚), found in chocolate, can help reduce blood pressure, and blood pressure lowered in this way can reduce the risk of death from a stroke by 8 percent and from a heart attack by 5 percent, scientists declare. And it can also reduce the risk or death in general by 4 percent.

A daily diet with a little chocolate has the same effect with some special diets designed to lower blood pressure, according to one researcher. “Although all the degree of the blood pressure reduction is small, the effects are quite obvious,” the researchers said.

However, Sara Stanner, a nutritionist at the British Heart Foundation, is quite cautious. “This study suggests that small quantities of small chocolate might have good effects on blood pressure. However, it is important to remember that chocolate is also high in fat and calories. So eating much is not good for your heart.” “Polyphenols are also found in fruits and vegetables, which can be taken in without the risks associated with overintake,” she added.

But the German study shows that the fat content does not cancel out the good effects—at least where small amounts are concerned.

What is a dream?

For centuries, people have wondered about the strange places that they seem to visit in their sleep. 【1】However,they have been valued as necessary to a person’s health and happiness.

Historically people thought dreams contained messages from God.It was only in the twentieth century that people started to study dreams scientifically, believing that they tell about a person’s character. 【2】He believed that dreams allow a person to express fantasies or fears, which would be socially unacceptable in real life.

The second theory to become popular was Carl Jung’s compensation theory.Jung,a former student of Freud, said that the purpose of a dream is not to hide something, but to communicate it to the dreamer. 【3】Thus,people who think too highly of themselves may dream about falling;those who think too little of themselves dream of being heroes.
