Dear LiMing,

I know you are having trouble adapting to the new class and new classmates and therefore feel upset and lonely. I guess that’s because you are shy and not good at communicating with others. But I believe you can make it if you follow the advice below.

First, don’t wait for others to start a conversation. Just talk to the other stud- ents and you will get familiar with them easily. It’s also a good idea to develop your hobbies and get involved in all kinds of class activities, such as discussions, sports games, speech contests and so on. In addition, you can always benefit from showing your friendship and devotion first, cleaning the classroom, wiping the blackboard, or just picking up waste paper from the floor, for example. I’m always here to help you, and so are most of our classmates. So be confident of yourself.
