Dear Earth Care,

I¡¯m glad to share some information with you. Recently, haze has hit many areas in our country from time to time, resulting in serious air pollution.A survey has showed that one of the main causes is vehicle exhaust. Besides, increasing cars in our daily life contribute to traffic jam.

Personally, it is the human activities that are responsible for environmental problem.I think we should take action to solve the problem.Fistly£¬the best way is to encourage more people to walk or ride a bike to work every day. Also£¬we should limit the number of cars on the street according to different weekdays. Last but not least£¬we should save energy.

I¡¯m sure the present situation will be completely changed if these measures are taken. The Earth will be a better place to live in!

Best regards!

Yours£¬

Some people believe that international sport creates goodwill between the nations and that if countries play games together they will learn to live together.Others say that the opposite is true£»that international contests encourage false national pride and lead to misunderstanding and hatred. There is probably some truth in both arguments£¬but in recent years the Olympic Games have done little to support the view that sports encourage international brotherhood. Not only was there the incident of tragedy involving murder of athletes£¬but the Games were also ruined by less incidents caused principally by minor national contests.

One country received its second?place medals with visible anger after the hockey final. There had been noisy scenes at the end of the hockey(Çú¹÷Çò) match£¬the losers objecting to the final decisions. They were convinced that one of their goals should not have been disallowed and that their opponents¡¯£¨¶ÔÊÖ£© victory was unfair. Their manager was in a rage when he said£¬¡°This isn¡¯t hockey. Hockey and the International Hockey Federation are finished.¡± The president of the Federation said later that such behavior could result in the suspension£¨ÖÐÖ¹£© of the team for at least three years.

The American basketball team announced that they would not yield first place to Russia£¬after a disputable end to their contest. The game had ended in disorder. It was thought at first that the United States had won by a single point£¬but it was announced that there were three seconds still to play.A Russian player then threw the ball from one end of the court to the other£¬and another player popped it into the basket. It was the first time the US had ever lost an Olympic basketball match. An appeal jury(ÆÀÉóίԱ»á)debated the matter for four and a half hours before announcing that the result would stand. The American players then voted not to receive the silver medals.

Incidents of this kind will continue as long as sport is played competitively rather than for the love of the game. The suggestion that athletes should compete as individuals or in non?national teams£¬might be too much to hope for. But in the present organization of Olympics there is far too much that encourages aggressive patriotism(°®¹úÖ÷Òå)£®

Although many Chinese students say that their knowledge of English grammar is good, most would admit that their spoken English is poor. Whenever I speak to Chinese students, they always say, "My spoken English is poor." 1. I would like to suggest that there may be some reasons for their problems with spoken English.

First, they fail to find suitable words to express themselves due to a limited vocabulary. 2. However£¬you can speak with a limited vocabulary if your attitude is positive. Others will follow you as long as you use the words that you know.

3. Sometimes they make mistakes when they are speaking because they are shy and nervous. Yet students should remember that their goal in speaking should be fluency not accuracy. You want to get your message across, to talk to someone in English, as quickly and well as you can, even though sometimes you may use a wrong word or tense, but it doesn't matter. 4.

The third reason is that not enough attention is paid to listening. You have one mouth but two ears! All that hearing is necessary for you to start speaking.

Fourth, most Chinese students are reactive(±»¶¯·´Ó¦µÄ) rather than proactive£¨»ý¼«Ðж¯µÄ£© language learners. Instead of actively seeking out opportunities to improve their spoken English they passively wait for speaking opportunities to come to them and wonder why their English always remains poor. 5.

A. The person you are speaking to will understand you and make allowances for mistakes he hears.

B. They may try to avoid making similar mistakes next time.

C. Obviously the better way is to expand their vocabulary.

D. If you have proactive outlook£¨¹Ûµã£©, then you will see English opportunities wherever you go.

E. However, their spoken English does not have to remain poor

F. Second, they are afraid of making mistakes.

G. The second reason lies in the unwillingness of using what has just been learned.

I am the only person who has reached senior middle school in my family. So, I am the ¡°best-educated¡±. But I also used to be the most because I never thought about my manners. As a busy , I always come home from school late. When I get home at , it is time for my meal. After eating, I go to school again. Could you how many things you have done for our ? And, could you tell me how often you say hello to your family members when you get home?¡±

That day, when I was at , I thought about the questions without understanding why Dad had asked them. Then, my friend, a girl from a rich family, asked me what was me. I told her. After listening, she laughed. ¡°Hey! That¡¯s nothing ! You know, I never do anything or say hello to anybody when I am at home, either.¡± Then she added, ¡°As far as I know, 90 percent of our have never done these things.¡± Really? At that moment, I why my dad had asked me those questions. It was because it is good to say hello to your family. However, most of us students don¡¯t know, or even this. How sad we are! I finally realized how I should answer my dad¡¯s questions. First, I would do all those things that are called good manners. Second, I would my classmates to be aware of their manners as soon as possible. That night I told these things to Dad. ¡°Good,¡± he said, ¡°Better late than never.¡± The next afternoon, when I got home, I saw Mum in the kitchen cooking. ¡°Hi, Mum, I¡¯m ,¡± I said. She looked at me and gave me a big .
