Communication is defined(定义) as the exchange of information between individuals(个体) ,media,or groups. However, a good communicator is someone who knows how to listen and understand well rather than just making himself or herself heard. Listening is the key to good communication. If you don’t know how to listen, then it’s not likely that there would be a free and willing exchange of ideas. Here are some tips to remember:

1. When you are listening to a friend’s opinions or even just taking part in a group discussion,be really present. Focus your attention on listening and not on daydreaming about other things. People can usually sense if they are getting half-hearted attention and it doesn’t feel good.

2. Usually, your friend already knows his/her way out but just wants someone to listen to him/her. So don’t offer to give advice unless it’s a matter of life and death. You become a more effective listener when you know when to keep quiet and when to speak up.

3. Though you might find it hard to look a person in the eye,try to do so. It will show that you are really listening. Whether you’re the speaker or the listener, you must try to make an eye contact, even briefly, just to make sure everyone’s still with you and understanding what you are saying or to let the speaker know you are listening attentively.

4. Once your friend has finished airing out him/her thoughts and asks for

your opinion, grab the opportunity to let him/her know how you feel about

his/her situation. Be careful about going too far with sharing your own life story, particularly about how you overcame the same situation. Keep the focus on him/her.

Mr Huang said, "If we do not pay attention and if we do not take measures to stop Chi?nese being mixed with English,Chinese will no longer be a pure language.
