Hi Sandra,

You¡¯ll never guess over I¡¯m writing this email from a cave! We¡¯re on holiday in Spain now. We spent a few days in Barcelona first. It¡¯s a great place but we had a good time though I didn¡¯t feel well one day. Anyway, after we left Barcelona, we come to spend several days in Granada. And guess what? We couldn¡¯t find a hotel because there were quite a lot of tourist. Then someone said, ¡°Why not trying the cave dwellings£¨×¡Õ¬£©here?¡± We thought he was joking, but here we were really in a cave dwelling and it¡¯s wonderfully. Tomorrow we¡¯re going to visit a palace in Granada. We¡¯ve enjoying it very much that we don¡¯t want to leave this amazed place. We¡¯re never going to have enough time explore everything!

Take care!

Ben

My friend Li Hua used to be rather poor in English, especially his terrible and strange pronunciation. Hardly could he make him understood when speaking English. Bearing a heavy load in mind, he felt desperate and upset. He dared not speak English at class. When asked questions, she was always nervous and embarrassed. The classmates always make fun of him, saying that he was speaking Japanese! Once I met him in the corridor. I told him that his pronunciation was very special and a kind of like Obama's. Believing what I said, he got greatly inspired. He spared no effort to practice speak English every day. Now, he can speak English fluent with a perfect accent.

Recently, he told me that it wasn't long after he knew that I just told a little white lie then but he appreciated badly, without which, he said, he couldn't have achieved such great progresses.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿Sometimes it can be easy to become too satisfied when it comes to living sustainably. We may all have recycling bins in our kitchens, but here are some ways you can live more sustainably.

1. Put an end to plastic water bottles and one-off coffee cups

The only way this is going to work is that if you have reusable options you really love, invest in a great water bottle. This is an advance payment, but it will save you money in the long run. A 750ml bottle of Evian costs 90p in Tesco, meaning if you buy one every two days you could save 10 within three weeks by filling up a reusable bottle at home.

2. _______________________________________

The high street is problematic on so many different levels. Not only are you buying items with questionable supply chains, but the carbon footprint of each product is shocking as well. Online shopping is even worse, with overpackaging for each item and the emissions from delivery trucks. The answer is to stick to reach-me-down or previously owned items as much as possible. Not only will this save you money, but there¡¯s also a sense of satisfaction in finding a hidden treasure from the flea market where you find outstanding bargains or something used, which you simply can't get from shopping in Wal-Mart or on Amazon.

3. Think hard about your transportation

Even if your car is supposedly a low-emissions model, it¡¯s still going to be a huge contribution to your carbon footprint. There are times when getting in a car can¡¯t be avoided, but if you can substitute just one flight a year with a train, one car journey a week with a bus. and one bus a month with a bike ride, you¡¯ll find that making more mindful transport decisions can easily make your day-to-day life more environmentally friendly with little effort.

4. Try to buy local, seasonal produce

You may think buying strawberries in December or courgettes in spring is no big deal, but the chemicals and fuel used to artificially copy the right environment for them to grow create harmful gas emissions. Similarly, the environmental impact of transporting produce from another country is huge. Buying from local farmers also means you can often ignore the huge amounts of packaging the supermarkets use.

¡¾1¡¿According to the passage, if we want to lower our carbon footprint, we¡¯d better ________.

A. purchase a 75ml bottle of Evian in Tesco every other day

B. never do some shopping in Wal-Mart or on Amazon

C. buy strawberries in December or courgettes in spring

D. take transport with a low-emissions model if possible

¡¾2¡¿Which of the following is most suitable to fill in the blank?

A. Avoid too much traffic on the high street.

B. Buy items without questionable supply chains.

C. Buy second-hand products as much as possible.

D. Avoid buying items with excessive packaging.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿We are more dependent on technology now than ever before-and for good reason. Our cell phones have more capabilities than laptops did 5 years ago. Technology is quickly becoming faster, more reliable, and yes, more portable.

Because of this, now is a great time to look into purchasing a laptop. Laptops now have the same computing power as desktops and are the least expensive they¡¯ve ever been. If you¡¯ re constantly on the go, it makes sense to have one.

We feature a lot of hot tech deals here at MakeUseOf, but if you¡¯re in the market for a laptop, I've collected the top two laptop computers for you. I only looked at laptops priced under $1,000 that had at least 4GB of RAM, a dual-core processor, and came with Windows 7. Let¡¯s see what we camp up with!

1. Sony Vaio FW 560F/T

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P7450/2. 13GHz

Memory: 6 GB£¨8GB Max£©

Hard Drive: 500GB

This Sony Vaio laptop has a lot of features that make it very attractive. With a 16-inch screen, it is very slim. It has Blu-ray playback and decent gaming performance, although it doesn¡¯t support 1080p. It makes for a very good multimedia notebook.

2. Samsung NP-R580-JSB1US

Processor: Intel Core i5 15-430M/2. 26GHz

Memory: 4 GB

Hard Drive: 500GB

This laptop comes with a Core i5 processor, NVIDIA graphics, and Blu-ray support. I¡¯ve read that the touch-pad is uncomfortable at times, but the processing power and graphics make it a great laptop with decent battery life.

¡¾1¡¿What is the normal memory of Sony Vaio FW560F/T?

A. 8G B. 5GB C. 4GB D. 6GB

¡¾2¡¿What¡¯s the similarity of Sony Vaio FW560F/T and Samsung NP-R580-JSB1US?

A. Processor B. Memory

C. Hard drive D. Features

¡¾3¡¿The underlined phrase ¡° makes sense¡± in Paragraph 2 can be replaced by____.

Pilates, yoga and the running machine get all the attention when it comes to popular ways to stay healthy.

There is, however, a more humble exercise that might not be so attractive, but has all the benefits ¡ª walking.

Certified fitness professional Jolynn Jaekel explains, ¡°What I love about walking is that anyone can do it at any age and any fitness level. Plus, it is good for your heart, your head and your wallet.¡±

A recent report details the health benefits of walking. The report found that walking regularly to fulfill the 150 minutes of moderate physical exercise every week, recommended by the UK's chief medical officer, could save 37,000 lives each year. Scientists at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California found that quick walking reduces the risk of heart disease more effectively than running. They observed participants aged between 18 and 80 over a sixyear period and found that walking reduced the risk of heart disease by 9.3%, while running reduced it by 4.5%. And there is even more good news: 30 minutes of quick walking over five days could help you sleep easily, according to research by Oregon State University. The study by the university showed that walking helped participants sleep better and feel more alert during the day.

The sooner you get started, the sooner you'll notice the differences in your mind and body. So, go out for your 30minute walk in a nearby park or green space.
