Nicolai Calabria has already become one of the best 106-pound wrestlers. He has successfully climbed to the top of the highest mountain in Africa, and most importantly, he's changed the attitude of any normal person who watches him compete.

The 17-year-old teenager has one leg. He was born that way, but his goal is to show it's not the one thing that defines him. He would also be the first one to tell you that he just wants to prove to others and himself that he's just like other normal ones.

When Calabria was young, his parents tried different prostheses(假肢)to find out which was most comfortable for their son as he tried to keep up with a family, who has a preference for sports.

At first, the Calabrias had their middle child in a prosthesis that looked and functioned like a “real” leg, but soon they decided to choose a different path when they found it wasn't beneficial to his movement. Then the family moved him to arm crutches(手杖) and from there a new burst of energy was found.

Getting others to believe that he could take off on the soccer field took a little bit longer. When the Calabrias moved to Concord, they had a hard time convincing the town soccer program to allow a child like him to compete with able-bodied kids. After months and months of debates and meetings, the family received the answer they were looking for. Since then, witnessing a young man on crutches who competes against those with two legs has become a fixed event in the Concord community.

“At that time I had nothing but discouragement working with the soccer community, however, now I have nothing but admiration for the fact that he's been allowed to play, and people see that he adds value to game,” his father said, “I just think it's a great result.”

Going green seems to be fad(时尚)for a lot of people these days. Whether that is good or bad, we can’t really say, but for the two of us, going green is not a fad but a lifestyle.

On April 22,2011,we decided to be green every single day for an entire year. This meant doing 365 different things, and it also meant challenging ourselves to go green beyond the easy things. Rather than recycle and reduce our energy, we had to think of 365 different things to do and this was no easy task.

With the idea of going green every single day a year, Our Green Year started. My wife and I decided to educate people about how they could go green in their lives and hoped we could show people all green things that could be done to help the environment. We wanted to push the message that every little bit helps.

Over the course of Our Green Year, we completely changed our lifestyles. We now shop at organic(有机的) stores. We consume less meat, choosing green food. We have greatly reduced our buying we don’t need. We have given away half of what we owned through websites. Our home is kept clean by vinegar and lemon juice, with no chemical cleaners. We make our own butter, enjoying the smell of home-made fresh bread. In our home office anyone caught doing something ungreen might be punished.

Our minds have been changed by Our Green Year. We are grateful for the chance to have been able to go green and educate others. We believe that we do have the power to change things and help our planets.

Summer is the season to dive into new activities and relax. And right now is the time to make sure that you’re ready for the great outdoors, the holiday planning and travel, and the bathing suit beach days.

If you want to lose weight before summer, concentrate on dropping no more than a pound or two a week. 1.And when you trouble yourself, sooner or later you,re going to gain it back. Operate on a 500-calorie-a-day deficit (亏损). 2. So if you cut 500 calories a day for seven days straight, you’ll lose a pound a week right there.

Now,they live in Florida and I like in Wales,UK with my husband and children,so I can’t go and bring her some baklava or even make some in her kitchen. But what I did suggest was that my father or sister should buy some baklava at a Greek Restaurant and I should do she same, and wouldn’t it be fun to eat our baklava at exactly the same time and so,be together sharing the moment and the pleasure? Both parents loved the idea and we decided to do it.It was lovely to hear a little happiness in her voice.

Tow days later we both had our baklava and shared the experience. It meant a lot to my parents, and to me,to do this.My mother said she wants to do this again, maybe with another food or even baklava again! Why not?And as she only keeps losing weight instead of gaining,it is good for her to find foods that appeal to her appetite. It is becoming harder to find ways to communicate over the phone, but this was this was at least a very good way to do so.And it was nice,as well,to remind us of pleasant memories of our past.
