Shenzhen Bay Sports Center,nicknamed as the "Spring Cocoon" because of its shape of a
cocoon,is located at the northeast corner of the center of Nanshan District,Shenzhen and
next to Hong Kong.Covering an area of 326,000 square metres,it includes a stadium,a gym,
a natatorium and some star hotels.Its construction work started in October 2008 and came
to an end at the end of 2010.It was in the Spring Cocoon that the opening ceremony of 26th
Universiade was held as well as the training and competitions for football,pingpong ball,
swimming and so on and after the Universiade it will be open to the public.As a new landmark
representing the image of Shenzhen City,it means that excellent young athletes rush out of the
cocoon and into the world.
