解答 66They  67 pointing       68.how     69.lay     70.gently
71 but   72 more valuable  73delighted  74 where   75 hurriedly∥in a hurry
66They 考查代词.根据前文A young man and an old man是两个人,为避免重复,用they代替.
Several times,he tried to pull it out可知,几次试图拿走他的皮毛大衣,但徒劳.表示转折.
72 more valuable  考查形容词比较级.the gold和his fur coat相比,前者更值钱.
73 delighted 考查过去分词.but前后连接两个相同的语法成分,worried but delighted意为"既担忧又高兴".
74 where 考查定语从句.分析句子结构可知这是一个定语从句,先行词a place表示地点,要用关系副词where.
75 hurriedly∥in a hurry 考查副词或固定搭配.run是动词,要用副词修饰,hurry的副词是hurriedly;或者用介词in a hurry后接动词不定式短语修饰.

12.It is reasonable to say that every teenager can be affected by peer pressure (从众心理) at some point.Every day,in any high school, peer pressure has a major influence over the behavior of teenagers. It can be as subtle (微妙的) as being persuaded to be late for class or as extreme as a dangerous drug.Whether subtle or extreme, peer pressure can have damaging, sometimes life changing, and even serious results.
"Teens don't often consider the long-term results that some behavior can cause,"said Terri Price,a researcher."Peer pressure can be very difficult to handle for many teens because of their fears of not fitting in".Peer pressure has always been part of teen life, but teens experienceitdifferently than their former generations did in the past.Sources of peer pressure have increased because of the Internet and other electronic communications.
Recognizing peer pressure can be as simple as noticing that you have been asked to do something that you are not comfortable with."Listen to your instinct (直觉),which is a sign for whether something is right or wrong. If it feels wrong, then most likely it is."says Price.
Teens are in a time of life when they are still discovering who they are. Many teens are influenced by peer pressure because of their insecurities (不安全感).This ca n make them helpless especially when their self-control is weak or they lack healthy support, causing them to take risky behavior or turn to unhealthy support.

13.US scientists have performed an important reversal(逆转) of the ageing process in animal studies. They used a chemical to rejuvenate(使年轻) muscle in mice and said it was the equivalent(等同于) of transforming a 60-year-old's muscle to that of a 20-year-old-but muscle strength did not improve.Their study,in the journal Cell, identified an entirely new mechanism(原理) of ageing and then reversed it.Other researchers said it was an"exciting finding".
Ageing is considered a one-way street, but now researchers at Harvard Medical School have shown that some aspects can be reversed.Their research focused on a chemical called NAD.Its levels naturally drop in all cells of the body with age.The team showed this damaged the function of the cell's in-built power-stations,leading to lower energy production and ageing.
Experiments showed that increasing NAD levels,by giving mice a chemical which they naturally change into NAD,could reverse the sands of time. One week of youth-medication in two-year-old mice meant their muscles became similar to those of a six-month-old.
Dr Ana Gomes, from the department of genetics at Harvard Medical School, said:"We believe this is quite an important finding."She argues muscle strength may return with a longer course of treatment. However, this could never be a cure-all for ageing.Other aspects such as shortening of telomeres or damage to DNA would not be reversed.
Dr Gomes told the BBC:"Ageing is multi-factorial,it's not just one component(成分) we can fix,so it's hard to target the whole thing.I believe there is a lot of cross-talk in cells and energy is very important in a cell and likely to be a very big component of ageing that might cause some of the other things that happen with ageing."
