A new report says_____(承诺)children money does not help exam grades.

2. could be a w of money using cash to get kids to study more.

4. do better at sch001后文中有do better,和and前的内容应是同级的,所以填harder表示更努力的。

5. do better at sch001.Of 10,000 pupil_________ (调查)in the research.

6.

7. education is a way to a ,their dreams,教育是实现他们梦想的方法。

8. there are other kids who think one’s efforts make little d , Make little difference几乎没有什么不同。

These kids might think exam success is because___________ genes and their family background.

10. really m is how students are taught

Dr Peter Nestor said Daisy was suffering from anterograde(顺行的)amnesia. He added,“It is reasonably rare, but it does exist. You are able to carry out day-to-day things, and don’t forget how to do certain things like speaking. But if someone was to ask you what you did yesterday, you wouldn’t have a clue.”

If you put a buzzard(秃鹰) in a pen(围栏) six to eight feet square and entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be a prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of ten to twelve feet. Without space to run, it will not even attempt to fly, but remain a prisoner for life in a small prison with no top.

The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkably nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is to shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight height from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.

A bumblebee (大黄蜂), if dropped into an open tumbler(平底玻璃杯), will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but insists on trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists until it completely destroys itself.

In many ways, there are lots of people like the buzzard, the bat and the bumblebee. They are struggling about with all their problems and frustrations, not realizing that the answer is right there above them.

1.Why does a buzzard choose to stay in a pen?

A. Because it is safe to live there.

B. Because it gets used to living there.

C. Because it cannot take off within an limited area.

D. Because it lost its ability to fly.

2. The underlined word in the second paragraph probably means “ .”

A. to run slowly B. to move slowly

C. to pace slowly D. to fly slowly

3.A bumblebee will completely destroy itself for .

A. it does not look for a way out above

B. it is dropped into an open cage

C. it does not try to find a way to escape

D. it hurts itself while flying

4. In which way are many people similar to a buzzard, an ordinary bat and a bumblebee?

A. They are overcoming all their problems and frustrations.

B. They are all content with the things as they are.

C. They choose to give in to problems and frustrations.

D. They do not seek new ways to deal with difficulties.

Stanley Yelnats was given a choice. The judge said, “You may go to prison, or you may go to Camp Green Lake.” Stanley was from a poor family. He had never been to camp before. So, Stanley Yelnats seems set to serve an easy sentence, which is only fair because he is as innocent as you or me. But Stanley is not going where he thinks he is.

Camp Green Lake is like no other camp anywhere. It is a place that has no lake and nothing green. Nor is it a camp, at least not the kind of camp kids look forward to in the summertime. It is only a desert wasteland, dotted with countless holes dug by the boys who live at the camp.

The trouble started when Stanley was accused of stealing a pair of shoes donated by basketball great Clyde “Sweetfeet” Livingston to a celebrity auction In court, the judge doesn’t believe Stanley’s explanation that the shoes fell from the sky onto his head. And yet, that’s exactly what happened. Strangely, though, Stanley doesn’t blame the judge for falsely convicting (宣告有罪) him. Instead, he blames the whole thing on his “no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-

stealing-great-great-grandfather.” Thanks to this distant relative, the Yelnats family had been cursed (诅咒) for generations. For Stanley, his current troubles are just a natural part of being a Yelnats.

At Camp Green Lake, the warden (看守) makes the boys “build character” by spending all day, every day, digging holes: five feet wide and five feet deep. It doesn’t take long for Stanley to realize there’s more than character improvement going on at Camp Green Lake. The boys are digging holes because the warden is searching for something, and before long Stanley begins his own search — for the truth. Fate is to find a solution to it all — the family curse, the mystery of the holes. The great wheel of justice has ground slowly for generations, but now it is about to reveal its verdict (裁决).

[1]When children go to camp, they are on their own, sometimes for the very first time in their lives. They have to decide what to wear, what to eat and which activities to participate in. As a result they develop confidence and independence.

[2]As self-respect develops from learning to be on their own, children continue to try new activities. Also it is possible that they will engage in what they are unfamiliar with. In school, children do not experience success in the same way. Camp can be a school without failure because just having fun makes them a success.

[3]One of the greatest benefits of a camp experience is that children develop social skills. In a camp setting, a good counselor will make sure that every camper is included in the activity and that each child interacts with the others in a positive way. They learn to give and take, and they learn how to work and cooperate. Something as simple as clean-up, is not only there to get the cabin clean, but to promote a team atmosphere of working together which in turn results in friendship.

[4]The obvious benefit of camp is that campers make long lasting friendships. These friendships can often be unique and special because campers are living with each other and see the true personalities. Chi1dren learn to see others from a different viewpoint. Children tend to be accepted for who they are and do not have to be concerned about what they wear, what they are good at and how they look. This is because in a camp setting, respect and caring finally win out over materialistic objectives.

[5]In a word, camp does give children fun, friends and fulfillment.
