Yao Ming, who is now 2.26 meters tall and 134kg in weight, was born in Shanghai on the 12th of September, 1980. He believes in himself. He plays center in the team.

He joined Shanghai basketball team in 1997 and became a member of China national team in 1998. Two years later he was selected as member of Asian All—Star basketball team. In 2002, Shanghai won the champion of CBA and he was among the top players in the team.
