Cell phones with cameras are really a popular way to capture a moment in time, but some “clever”students found another use-capturing tests as a way to cheat.

The Magnolia Independent School District in Montgomery County has added camera phones to a list of electronic devices students are banned from having at school.

School officials said the move was made as a preventative measure to stop potential test cheaters, since students could use the phones to snap pictures of test questions.Another concern was that students might take inappropriate pictures of classmates to later share or post on a Website.Cell phones without cameras are allowed on campus, but must be turned off.Camera cell phones will be confiscated if found on campus, and disciplinary action will be taken, officials said.

Some students were disheartened to hear about the ban.“I’d be lost without my phone,”said Kendall Paul, a Magnolia High School student.“All my numbers are in it.I’ve never used it to cheat and I don’t know anyone who has at our school, so I think it’s kind of stupid.”But other students said they saw it all the time at their school.

“You would take a picture of the test and then send it to the next person taking the test,”said Melissa Sparks, a student.

“They would send the question and the answer, or just the number of the question and the answer. It’s quicker that way,”another student said.

Parents often provide their children with cell phones for use in emergencies and to keep better track of them.“My Mon wants me to have my phone with me at all times for emergence purpose. So, it goes with me wherever I go,”Paul said.

Letter to Editor of TV Weekly

  Dear Sir/Madam,

I read Alison Burnham’s review of When we were 12, and I do not agree with her.I thought the programme was wonderful-I found the old news pictures really interesting-they helped to bring to life the stories the people were telling.

The programme reminds me of many things from my own childhood. For example, one day when I was about five, I was going to school on the bus by myself (this was the late 1960s).My mother had given me exactly the right money for a return ticket.I held out my hand with the money in it-one big coin on top of one little coin. The bus conductor took the big top coin only and she gave me a ticket, but it was a pink one for a single journey.I needed a white one for a return journey, but I was too frightened to say anything. When school finished for the day, I couldn’t catch the bus home-I had to walk.As a grown-up, whenever I’ve been in a situation Where I need to say something or take some action, this early memory of my bus ride comes back to me, and I’m able to take control of the situation.

I would like to say to the director, Bret Chrysler, carry on making this kind of programme.Too much TV these days is quiz shows and so-called “reality programmes”.I appreciate the human story that can make me laugh and cry.

Yours faithfully,

Chris Daniels

Your blood makes a round trip through your body in less than a minute, thousands of times a day.It travels through tubes called blood vessels. There are three main kinds of blood vessels-arteries, veins, and capillaries(毛细血管).When blood is pumped out of your heart it goes into your largest arteries. These branch into smaller arteries, which branch into still smaller ones. The blood flows from the smallest arteries into your capillaries.

Capillaries are bridges between your arteries and your veins. They are the tiniest blood vessels, so small that you cannot see them without a microscope.Blood travels from the capillaries into tiny veins. These lead to larger and still larger veins. Finally, the largest veins take the blood back to your heart.

Blood feeds your cells, cleans them, and works to keep them healthy. It carries food and oxygen to every cell of your body. The food and oxygen get into your cells by passing through the thin walls of your capillaries.

Blood cleans all your cells by picking up wastes from them. The wastes pass from your cells, through the capillary walls, into your blood. The wastes called urea and uric acid are carried by the blood to your body and urine. The waste gas called carbon dioxide is carried by the blood to your lungs. It leaves your body when you breathe out.

Blood also protects you.It has special cells in it that fight germs. The cells in your blood that fight germs are called“white cells”.These are like an army for your body. They kill harmful germs that get into your blood. When a large number of germs enter your body, the number of white cell“soldiers”grows.A lot of blood moves to the area where the germs are.The white cell soldiers attack the germs and kill them. The used white cells and dead germs form the thick yellow liquid called pus.If the pus is inside a sore on your skin, it may leak out.
