A woman named Bonnie suffered a   36  of discomforts caused by the treatment of cancer. She didn’t regard cancer as a   37  disease, but a laughing matter. She treated it in a humorous way. To put it in   38  way, she is teaching people that even though cancer isn't   39 , we can treat it in a humorous way.
Her second child was going to be born three months away   40  she was diagnosed with cancer. Suddenly, a   41  mother turned into a helpless woman afraid for her own   42 . It was after she had had her baby   43  that she had an operation.   44  came chemo(化疗)and her life seemed to be made up of fears and   45 . But the   46  moment in her life came after she lost all her hair and a free wig(假发) arrived. She   47  it on as her older son Kyler watched.
“That was when I decided how to   48  it: crying over this bad wig or laughing about it.   49  way would make   50  remember it.” Bonnie said. She spent a lot of time looking for anything funny from cancer patients. She got a lot out of collecting   51  stories. She started laughing a lot, finding it the perfect medicine. Using herself as a bald (光头) model, Bonnie   52   to design her own greeting cards and calendars, making fun of the sufferings of chemo.
"To have joy, we badly   53  to laugh," she said.

When I was in primary school, I got into a major argument with a boy named Tom in my class. I can’t remember what it was about,  21 I have never forgotten the  22  I learned that day.
I was 23 that I was right and he was wrong--and he was sure that I was wrong and he was right. The 24decided to teach us a very important lesson. My English teacher, Ms Green  25 both of us up to the 26 of the class and 27  him on one side of her desk and me on  28 . In the middle of her desk was a large, round object. I couldn’t believe he said the object was white,  31 it was obviously black! Another 32 started between my classmate and me, this time about the 33  of the object.
The teacher told me to go stand where the boy was standing and told him to come stand where I had been. We changed  34  and now she asked me what the color of the object was. I  35 answer, “White.” It was an object with two 36  colored sides, and from his side it was white.  37  from my side was it black.
My teacher taught me a very important lesson that day: You must 38  in the other person’s shoes and look at the 39  through their eyes in order to  40  understand their view.

The Price of a Dream
I grew up poor, living with my wonderful mother. We had little money but plenty of love and attention.  I was   36  and energetic. I understood that no matter how poor a person was, he could still   37  a dream.
My dream was to be a sportsman.   38  I was sixteen, I had started playing baseball. I could throw a ninety-mile-per-hour fastball and hit anything that moved on the football field.  I was also   39 . My high-school coach was Ollie Jarvis, who not only believed in me, but taught me  40 to believe in myself. He   41 me the difference between having a dream and realizing the dream. One particular   42  with Coach Jarvis changed my life forever.
It was the summer between my junior and senior years, and a friend recommended (推荐) me for a summer job. This meant a chance for money in my pocket—money for a new bike and new clothes, and the   43  of savings for a house for my mother. Then I realized I would have to   44  summer baseball to deal with the work schedule, and that meant I would have to tell Coach Jarvis I wouldn’t be playing.
When I told Coach Jarvis, he was as   45  as I expected him to be.  “You have your whole life to work,” he said.  “Your playing days are limited. You can’t   46  to waste them.” I stood before him with my head hanging, trying to think of the   47  that would explain   48  him why my dream of buying my mom a house and having money in my pocket was worth facing his   49  in me.
“How much are you going to make at this job, son?” he asked. “Three twenty-five an hour,” I replied.
“Well,” he asked, “is $3.25 an hour the   50  of a dream?”
That simple question made it   51  to me the difference between   52  something right now and following a dream. I   53  myself to sports that summer, and within the year I was   54  by the Pittsburgh Pirates to play baseball, and was   55  a $20,000 contract. In 2000, I bought my mother the house of my dream!

I live in a big city with a lot of homeless(无家可归的) people. Luckily there’re small ways of helping them and you needn’t have a lot of   31 . One way to help is to buy their monthly magazine. One sunny summer day I was playing outside when she came  44  to me and said, “ Want to come to the attic(阁楼)?” The answer was always “  45 ”. There was an American writer who often told such a story to his friends and readers:
It was an exhibition of the artists’ works organized by the Red Cross. I was invited as a special guest to take part in the exhibition. During this period, two cute girls of 16 or 17 years old came to me and asked for my signature(签名).
“I haven’t brought my pen. Is the pencil okay?” I asked. In fact I knew they wouldn’t refuse. I just wanted to show a well-known writer’s good manners to the common readers.
“Certainly,” the young girls readily agreed. I could see they were very excited. Of course, their excitement also made me more pleased with myself. One of the girls handed her notebook to me. I took out my pencil, wrote a few words of encouragement, and signed my name. The girl read my signature, frowned(皱眉), looked at me carefully and asked, “Aren’t you Robert Charboss?”
“NO,”I told her proudly, “I’m the author of Alice Adams, the winner of two Pulitzer Prizes.”
The young girl turned to another one, and said, “Mary, lend your eraser to me.”
At the moment, all my pride turned into a bubble (泡沫) immediately. Since then, I always warn(告诫)myself:Don’t think too highly of yourself even though you are so outstanding(杰出的).
