I was completely frustrated and 7 Dropping the basket heavily, I declared, “If the store wants its last twenty dozen, they can pick it themselves!” Dad 8 “Just think, my little girl, only ten dozen left for each of us and then we’re 9 ” Such is Dad—whatever problem he 10 he never gives up.
11 the disastrous effects of the drought were felt all over our country. It was a challenging time for everyone,12 Dad remained optimistic. He 13 to be grateful for other things like good health and food on our plates. Only then did I truly begin to 14 Dad and his faith guided us through the hard times.

One Sunday, a picture in the newspaper touched me. A young woman stood in front of a totally destroyed home. A little boy stood beside her with his head1. Holding her skirt tightly was a tiny girl, eyes wide with 2 and fear.
With growing 3I noticed that their sizes of each family member closely4 ours. This would be a good opportunity to5my children, so I explained their difficult6to my seven-year-old twins and three-year-old Meghan.
“We have so much, but these poor people now have nothing,” I said, “we’ll7 what we have with them.”
I brought three large boxes and placed them on the living room floor. Meghan watched seriously8 the boys and I filled one box with canned food.
While I9our clothes, I encouraged the boys to go through their toys and10 some of their less favorite things. Meghan watched11 as the boys piled up useless toys in the box.
“I’ll help you find something for the little girl,” I said to her.
The boys placed the toys they had12to donate into one of the boxes while I filled the third box with clothes. Meghan walked up with Lucy, her worn, faded, much-loved doll13tightly to her chest. She14 in front of the box, pressed her little face into Lucy’s face, gave her a15 kiss, then, laid her gently on top of the other toys.
“Oh, honey,” I said. “You16 to give away Lucy. You love her so much.”
Meghan nodded, eyes shining with tears. “Lucy makes me happy, Mommy. 17she’ll make that little girl happy, too.”
I stared at Meghan for a long moment, 18 how I could teach the boys the lesson she had just taught me.
It’s easy to give what we don’t want any more, but 19to let go of things we cherish, isn’ t it? 20, the true spirit of giving is to give with your heart.

One Sunday, I was told to dress in my best clothes for I was going to 2. She smiled brightly as I got into her car, the car of a 3I did not even know her name, but here I was , along with four others I 4from our low-income neighborhood, on our way to church.
As we5 into the parking lot, I remember how beautiful the old stone building was with its tall steeple(尖塔)and stained glass windows. The6seemed long, and not accustomed to the rituals(仪式)of the Catholic Church, I felt out of place. Once the service had ended, I 7 to be taken home, but 8 we headed in the opposite direction. We were taken to a small9with the furnishings that portrayed a simple lifestyle. Two tables were set up with large boxes10 puzzles. As she made us hot chocolate, we were11 to begin working the puzzles. It was a quiet and happy time.
I came to 12 Sundays,to hot chocolate, to puzzles that13 where we had left off the week before, and to the love I felt whenever she 14at me .
Once our 1,000-piece puzzles had been completed, she no longer came to15us up on Sundays .I was told she was16 and no longer able to travel. However, I 17 if perhaps it was time for her to “rescue” the next group of children. To give them hope that kindness still18 and can be found within those we call strangers.
I am forty-four years old now and often show19to strangers when given the chance. I know she may not move amongst us now, but I hope she smiles when she sees that her efforts to reach out to those less fortunate20.

Once in Japan there lived two frogs, one of whom made his home near the town of Osaka, while the other lived in Kyoto. 1, they didn’t know each other. Bothof them liked to see a little of the world: the Kyoto frog wanted to visit Osaka, and the Osaka frog wished to go to Kyoto.
So one morning they 2. However, the journey was more 3 than they had expected, for they didn’t know much about traveling. Half-way between the two towns, at the top of a mountain, the two frogs 4 each other! Soon they fell into  5.
“What a(n) 6 we are too small, ” said the Osaka frog. “Otherwise, we could see both towns from here, and 7 if it is worth our going on.”
“Oh, that is easily 8,” replied the Kyoto frog. “We have only got to stand up on our hind (后面的) legs, and hold on to each other 9 we won’t fall down, and then we can both look at the towns we are 10 to.”
This idea 11 the Osaka frog; he stood up and put his front paws on the 12of the other frog, who had risen also. There they both stood, stretching themselves as 13 as they could. The Kyoto frog turned his nose towards Osaka, and the Osaka frog, towards Kyoto, but the 14 frogs forgot that when they stood up, their eyes were in the backs of their heads, and that 15 their noses pointed to their destinations, yet their eyes looked at the places 16 which they had come.
“Dear me!” cried the Osaka frog. “Kyoto is 17 like Osaka. It is certainly not worth such a long journey.”
“If I had known that Osaka was only a 18 of Kyoto I should never have traveled all this way,” 19 the frog from Kyoto. Then they started off for their 20 again.

As a teaching student, I was sent on my first practice at a high school.During my practice, I 1realized high school hadn't changed since I was there and still an awful place of Cliques(派系).

Tyson was at the4end of the scale(等级).A handsome Year 12 student, and always surrounded by mates, it was clear that he was a confident and popular young man.
When Jess asked to perform a solo act (独唱)in the school talent show, I 5to allow her to take the stage, fearing that she might face teasing. However, I knew that it would be unfair to say no on these grounds, so her name made it onto the list of6

He was clapping proudly and urged his friends to join in and, surprisingly, they did.
Slowly, from Tyson's group to the rest of Year 12, finally throughout the auditorium, the claps  spread.
The smile on Jess's face that day is one that I'll never forget.Tyson changed my life by restoring my12 in the goodness of youth.
