61.Anna: I get really frustrated easily, and sometimes I end up yelling at people I love.I'm not very sure why it happens, but I have no control over it.How can I stop?

62.Smith: Some kids are making fun of me because I'm doing very well at school.Isn't that something to be proud of? I need advice.

63.Wilkins: I can't sociaize.I am really shy, and I am already a freshman in high school. I have some new friends, but I am still shy to the cool kids. Can you help me, please?

64.Crick: I always say what I feel immediately and without thinking.Sometimes I get in trouble for it or feel sorry about it later. Is speaking your mind a good or a bad thing?

65.June: I love to read! But I don't have any time to read because of all of my activities.I don’t want to quit anything. What should I do?

A

Instead of feeling upset, you should definitely be proud of yourself.Intelligence is a quality that everyone wants, and as you get older it's going to be what people love and respect about you.Still water runs deep.I'm sure as time goes by, some of those kids making fun of you might realize how cool you actually are.

B

Everyone has to leam how to adapt to society and mix socially with others. No man is an island, as the saying goes.To become a sociable person, you must be naturally friendly.Besides, do something for a social situation.A teacher once gave me this great advice: Prepare a conversation in your head before going into an uncomfortable social situation. It sounds like a lot of work, but it's easy and it works! Get involved in activities that interest you and you will make new friends fast.

C

Always keep a book with you so that you can read during pockets of free time.Turn some of your TV or computer time into reading time.Read for a little while right before bed, and find time to read on weekends. Also, talk to your parents about your schedule. You might not want to quit anything, but you might need to find more free time in order to have a happy balance in your life.

D

That feeling is your conscience, and it's telling you that you need to confess what you did.Be brave and tell your parents.Even if they get upset when they hear about it from you, they would be even more upset to hear about it from your friend's mom.So pick a quiet time and say.Mom, Dad, I need to tell you something, but I'm afraid. Then spill the beans. No matter what they say, you'll be relieved not to have this secret any more.

E

First, identify what is frustrating you, then learn to calm yourself down. The next time you start feeling frustrated, stop what you're doing and breathe deeply.Count to ten.Get up and walk around.Clear your mind before you come back to the frustrating task.If you keep a cool head, you'll be less likely to snap at others. And if you do yell at someone, apologize and admit that it's not that person's fault. Then calm down and try again.

F

Speaking your mind can be a really good thing.Far too many people don't, except when talking about someone behind that person's back. However, there are times when honesty does more than good like when a girl asks if she looks fat.So in situations in which there's no real good, you are better off keeping your thoughts to yourself. In situations in which that is not the case like when your brother asks if his breath stinks feel free to tell the truth.Just be prepared to take it in return.

Colorful Drinking Customs in Scandinavia
The peoples of the Scandinavian countries share a lot in common for geographical reasons. But there are more of differences than similarities between them in all ways, including their drinking customs.
A superficial(表面上的)observer might think that no one in Norway drinks wine. Meals eaten in restaurants or at home are usually washed down with tea, coffee or milk. Occasionally however, pale or dark ale(麦牙酒)is drunk. It can be ordered only in restaurants, where it is served only with food.
Excellent quality beers are made in Jutland and consumption is high. After beer, brandy is the favorite drink. Aalborg schnapps made from corn and potatoes, is famous for its high alcoholic content. For the Danes, brandy is also an aperitif(开胃酒) and is often drunk before meals. For a foreigner, the practice of surrounding toasts here can be uncomfortable. If he accepts one toast then he will have to accept all others, and it is difficult to drink six or seven glasses of brandy unless one is used to it. Ladies are fortunately excluded from these rounds and they drink only a grape juice with almost no alcoholic content.
It is milk instead of liquor that is the principal(主要的) Finnish table drink. More milk is drunk by the Finnish people than in any other nation. In Finland the sale of alcohol is a state behavior and a check is kept on consumption by recording purchases on special card issued to all customers.
As there is a difference between Swedish cooking in the south and that in the north because of the difference in soil and climate, their drinking habits are also different. In the north alcoholic beverages(烈酒).
are considered a necessity because they keep out the cold. While in the south people have milder drinks. But generally speaking, too much drinking is rare in Sweden, partly because it is against the law.
Sale of spirits is controlled; the Swedes drink much coffee and tea. Many people still prefer the old-fashioned coffee served in large cups with cakes. Tea is so popular in Sweden that it has been called the Swedish national drink.
41. The passage mentions the following subjects EXCEPT ______.
A. drinking habits           B. table manners
C. sales of spirits            D. drinking time
42. According to the passage, which of the following is the Swedish national drink?

A. The German people.              B. The American people.
C. The Finish people.                D. The French people.
44. It can be inferred that if a foreigner isn’t good at drinking brandy, he ______.
A. would like to invite ladies to have a party

C. would like to accept others’ toasts
D. will often drink milk instead of brandy

76.

My husband and I are young parents (He’s 25 and I’m 23). He has a job that he loves and I am a stay-at-home mom and I love it. We are the proud parents of our three children, and plan to have more. We’ve got a lot of comment, even from strangers, which is very upsetting to us. Any advice not to let people speak ill of us behind our backs?

77.

My wife has two grandchildren whom she seldom gets to see. Her daughter married, and the new husband is trying to keep the kids away from our family, only allowing them to stay with his family. Is there any other way to deal with this problem other than sue(控诉)for grandparents’ right?

78.

My 20-year-old daughter is very pretty, but always gets treated better by men than “average” people. Once she was getting gas and another customer (male of course) bought it for her. I told her it was wrong to take advantage of her good looks, but she said if men wanted to do things for her because of her beauty, she would let them do it. What do you think?

79.

What do you do with a neighbor who doesn’t care about her yard? She leaves useless things outside, doesn’t ever paint the house and her lawn is always in an untidy state. The rest of us work hard to have homes that are attractive to the community. This person’s neglect is bringing down our property values.

80.

My husband is patient, lovable and caring. He packs my lunch each day with a handwritten lovely note, mows the lawn, etc. But when he packs my lunch, he uses a piece of paper to wipe his hands, and then throws it on the floor. It’ll stay there forever. But I’m not his mother. How can I get him to clean up after himself?

A. If you like, throw a lawyer into the middle of a family conflict—and prepare for war. I highly recommend giving peace a chance. What you are describing here is a serious disagreement between your wife and her daughter that is blamed on the husband. Your wife and daughter need a good heart-to-heart communication with no kids or husbands around.

B. The mother has an additional influence on her sons: she not only gives them clues to what they will find attractive in a mate, but also affects how they feel about women in general. So if she is warm and nice, her sons are going to think that’s the way women are. They will likely become warm-hearted and also be cooperative around the house.

C. There are so many possible reasons for your neighbour’s neglect. Perhaps she is a millionaire; maybe she’s physically unable to do the work and can’t afford to pay someone to do it; perhaps she likes her home the way it is. I’m afraid the best you and your neighbours can do is go to her, share your feelings of worry about what effect she’s having on your properties and you may not like this! Offer to clean up her yard.

D. You don’t need to show that your choice are reasonable to anyone, especially to rude people .If you’re lovable and responsible parents, next time you get a comment on your family, laugh it off and tell them, “I was born to love babies.” If a stranger pipes up with an unsolicited(未经同意的)opinion, say dryly , “How kind of you to be concerned about my family .Excuse me.” And move on.

E. Controlling is cruel and taking advantage of one’s appearance is ugly. If she cares about maintaining her beauty and her self-respect, she needs to stop taking things for free from men. Remind her that nothing in life is free.

F. You want help? Most women would love to have your husband. How about this? While your husband is packing your lunch, composing handwritten lovely notes and mowing the lawn, why don’t you pick up the newspapers, wipe the floor and then leave him a note telling him what a treasure he is. On behalf of women everywhere, embrace this man!
