11.When I first got an e-mail account ten years ago,I received communications only from family,friends,and colleagues.Now it seems that every time I check my e-mail,I have an endless series of advertisements and other correspondence that do not interest me at all.If we want e-mail to continue to be useful,we need specific laws that make spamming(发送垃圾邮件) a crime.
If lawmakers do not do something soon to prohibit spam,the problem will certainly get much worse.Computer programs allow spammers to send hundreds of millions of e-mails almost instantly.As more and more advertisers turn to spam to sell their products,individual(个人的) e-mail boxes are often flooded with spam e-mails.Would people continue to use e-mail if they had to deal with an annoying amount of spam each time?
This problem is troubling for individuals and companies as well.Many spam e-mails contain computer viruses that can shut down the entire network of a company.Companies rely on e-mail for their employees to communicate with each other.Spam frequently causes failures in their local communications networks,and their employees are thus unable to communicate effectively.Such a situation results in a loss of productivity and requires companies to repeatedly repair their networks.These computer problems raise production costs of companies,which are,in the end,passes on to the consumer.
For these reasons,I believe that lawmakers need to legislate (立法) against spam.Spammers should be fined,and perhaps sent to prison if they continue to disturb people.E-mail is a tool which helps people all over the world to communicate conveniently,but spam is destroying this convenience.
13.According to the text,what is the major cause of the flooding spam?C

14.According to Paragraph 3,who is the final victim of spam?C
A.The business
B.The advertiser
C.The consumer
D.The employee
15.What is the purpose of the text?D
A.To inform
B.To educate
C.To instruct
D.To persuade.

As more and more advertisers turn to spam to sell their products, individual e-mail boxes are often flooded with spam e-mails.可知,很多公司在用垃圾邮件来宣传产品,故C正确.
14.C 细节理解题.根据第三段最后一句These computer problems raise production costs of companies, which are,in the end, passed on to the consumer.

16.Last year,A Bite of China,made by CCTV's Documentary Channel (纪录片频道),sparked discussion not only on Chinese food,but also on locally made documentary programs.
When you think of documentaries,you may think of them as long,boring programs.But documentaries can be wonderful and bring stories from the real world into our homes.With fascinating footage(影片片段) and stories,documentaries encourage us to think about interesting issues we wouldn't necessarily know about.
So,what makes a good documentary, and what should we pay attention to when we watch one? Here,we offer a few easy strategies to help you get the most out of watching documentaries.
Pay attention to the themes
While watching a documentary, keep your eyes and ears peeled for the themes people talk about and what ideas they focus on.Is it meant to be informative or raise a certain emotional response?
Think critically
Listen to what the people in the documentary are saying and ask yourself the following questions:If you were debating with someone or introducing a new concept, would you say the things the people in the documentary are saying?Do the arguments make sense?
Check the sources
If you're sitting at the computer and can't think of anything to do,why not look up the points the documentary made and see if they are accurate? You could even read more about what is presented in the documentary.
Who are the creators?
The creators or financial backers of a film will usually be involved with how the subject matter is presented.For instance,as the documentary 2016:Obama's America was directed in large part by a conservative writer,it's not surprising that it's critical of President Obama from the beginning.

3.BEIJING changed the office hours of many institutions starting April 12 in the hope of reducing traffic jams during rush hour.
The new policy asked 800,000 employees to replace their former working schedule of 8:30 am to 5:30 pm with the new working hours of 9 am to 6 pm.
This is just one part of the Beijing municipal government's plan to fight traffic jams.Starting April 1,daytime parking fees in 13 downtown areas were raised to encourage less driving. On April 2,the government announced limitations launched after the Beijing Olympics would be extended until April 2012.These ban Beijing's 5.8 million drivers from driving one workday each week. The ban is based on the last number of the car license plate.
A multi-billion yuan fund has also been set up to build more underground ring roads in heavily populated areas.Major roads above ground will also be expanded.
According to Beijing's traffic authorities, key projects include repairing major ring roads and expanding the subway network. The city will also create more taxi stops and bike rental stations, probably under the hundreds of overpasses (天桥) citywide.
Beijing's fight against traffic jams is a smaller example of what is happening all around China. The central government is now supporting new ideas that will change the future of Chinese roads.
Bus rapid transit (BRT,快速公交系统) is one such idea.Special bus lanes carry almost as many passengers as a subway system. They cost less and are becoming popular in many big cities. Now Beijing has five BRT lines
Shanghai is dealing with traffic problems by charging higher fees for license plates(牌照).The city is also controlling the total number of plates sold. Now,it is considering a plan to charge cars for entering the central business district,as London does.
Meanwhile, there are signs that Chinese are more aware of the serious problem of traffic. For example, there has been a sharp increase in the number of posts looking for carpooling (拼车) partners on major websites.
By the end of March,2010,China had 192 million cars, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
