题目内容
阅读下列短文,从所给的四个选项中,选出最佳答案
David went to stay with his cousin, Peter. Peter lived near a small village twenty miles west of Newtown. On the last day of David's visit, there was a tremendous storm. David's uncle said, “You can't go home tomorrow. The paths are flooded. The wooden bridge has collapsed (倒塌). You must stay with us for another one or two weeks.”
David thought his parents would be worried about him. He wrote a letter, but he couldn't post it because of the flood. But Peter said, “Come with me. My uncle works on the railway. He can post your letter in Newtown. He often helps in this way. I'll show you.”
Peter took David up a hill and part of the way down the other side. When they reached a railway line, Peter stopped. Twenty minutes later, a train came slowly up the hill. Peter waved his arm and held out David's letter. A friendly face looked out from the end of the train, and an arm snatched the letter. The train continued slowly on its journey to the top of the hill.
