Limited to a narrow seat for hours with just a tiny bag of cookies and orange juice to comfort yourself, the last thing you feel like doing when you get off a plane is to wait around for your bags. The easy option when traveling has been to limit yourself to a carry-on suitcase and pray it fits in the overhead bin. Not only does it get you out of the airport faster but it's also free. Not any longer. however.

Recently, some airlines are starting to charge for carry-on bags, and travelers aren't at all happy about it Packing light might not be an option anymore when looking for tips to get the best airfare possible

Some smaller airlines such as Frontier and Spirit have always charged customers for carry-on bags, but now bigger name airlines, such as United, are starting to do it too. When you purchase a Basic Economy ticket through United you’re not allowed a full-size carry-on bag unless you’re a MileagePlus Premier member. Should you forget to check your bag before security and bring it all the way to the gate, not only will you pay the checked-bag fee, but you’ll have to pay an additional $25 gate handling charge. Not the best way to start off a trip. Don’t miss these additional things airlines don't want to tell you but every flier should be aware of.

You might assume that the new carry-on bag guidelines are due to space limitations in the overhead bins, but it has more to do with on-time rates, Aviation economies expert and senior vice president of ICF Aviation Samuel Engel told Vox that the biggest bottleneck when it comes to boarding is carry-on luggage. For every minute a plane isn’t in the air, it's losing money. A delayed departure makes the flight crew look bad and passengers very angry.

So, the next time you fly, plan to check your bag before security, pay a bit more for your ticket so you are allowed a carry-on, or try rolling a week s worth of clothes into a backpack, a still-allowed “personal item.”

1What does the first paragraph intend to convey?

A. People feel comfortable when they are taking a flight

B. People are unwilling to wait for their bags after getting off the plane

C. People tend to choose the carry-on suitcases for convenience.

D. People will no longer have the option for free carry-on suitcases

2Which of the following is NOT the reason why more airlines begin to charge for carry-ons?

A. Space limitations.B. Passengers support

C. On-time ratesD. Increasing budget.

3What is the main idea of the passage?

A. Carry-on bags are affecting on-time rates

B. What should you do before taking a flight?

C. Carry-on bags are increasing budget-busting delays

D. More Airlines are starting to charge for carry-on bags

Not only does it get you out of the airport faster but it's also free. Not any longer. however.(它不仅能让你更快地离开机场,而且还是免费的。

You might assume that the new carry-on bag guidelines are due to space limitations in the overhead bins, but it has more to do with on-time rates(你可能会认为新的随身行李指南是由于行李架的空间限制,但它更多地与准时率有关。)以及For every minute a plane isn’t in the air, it's losing money.(每有一分钟飞机不在空中,它就在赔钱。)

Recently, some airlines are starting to charge for carry-on bags, and travelers aren't at all happy about it.(最近,一些航空公司开始对随身携带的行李收费,旅客对此一点也不高兴。)

You might assume that the new carry-on bag guidelines are due to space limitations in the overhead bins, but it has more to do with on-time rates(你可能会认为新的随身行李指南是由于行李架的空间限制,但它更多地与准时率有关。)以及For every minute a plane isnt in the air, it's losing money.(每有一分钟飞机不在空中,它就在赔钱。)

I was at a dinner in London given in honor of one of the most celebrated English military (军事的)men of his time. I do not want to tell you his real name and titles. I will just call him Lieutenant General Lord Arthur Scoresby.

I cannot describe my excitement when I saw this great and famous man. There he sat, the man himself, in person, all covered with medals. I could not take my eyes off him. He seemed to show the true mark of greatness. His fame had no effect on him. The hundreds of eyes watching him, the admiration of so many people, did not seem to make any difference to him.

Next to me sat a clergyman(牧师), who was an old friend of mine. He was not always a clergyman. During the first half of his life he was a teacher in the military school at Woolwich. There was a strange look in his eye as he turned to me and said in a low voice-"privately-he is a complete fool." He meant, of course, the hero of our dinner.

This came as a shock to me. I looked hard at my friend. I could not have been more surprised if he had said the same thing about Napoleon, or Socrates, or Solomon. But I was sure of two things about the clergyman. He always spoke the truth. And, his judgment of men was good. Therefore, I wanted to find out more about our hero as soon as I could.

Some days later I got a chance to talk with the clergyman, and he told me more.

1What did the author think about the clergyman's words?

A. Completely unbelievable.

B. Funny.

C. Probably true.

D. Foolish.

2What can we conclude from the passage?

A. The hero might not be a real hero.

B. The clergyman was the hero's best friend.

C. The hero was respected by all, including the clergyman.

D. The author strongly believed the hero was a great person.

3What will be talked about following the passage?

A. How the clergyman got to know the hero.

B. What really had happened to the hero.

C. The clergyman's past life.

D. The hero's struggle for success.

It's at this time of the year that marathon recovery, not marathon training, starts to take center stage.

Research indicates that the muscle damage from running a marathon can last up to two weeks. The research also indicates that muscle soreness(肌肉酸痛)is not a good indicator of muscular healing. In other words, just because you aren't sore anymore doesn't mean that you are fully healed. This is the danger for marathon runners: post-marathon muscular soreness fades after a few days but minor damage within the muscle cells remains. If you return to full training too soon--running more and faster than the tissues are ready for--you risk delaying full recovery and the chance to get ready for your next goal.

The solution, it appears, is to recognize (and accept) that the muscles will take a while to heal and to be prepared to take it easy for the first couple of weeks (even longer if you’re particularly sore after your marathon). While the research isn't very promising when it comes to things to do to reduce soreness and aid healing, a couple of concepts appear to help. First, providing gentle blood flow to the area helps bring healing nutrients (营养) into the muscles and also helps to remove waste products and damaged tissue. Walking and gentle massage(按摩)can help, particularly in the first few days after a marathon. Once muscle soreness has significantly reduced (usually two to four days after the race), light jogging can commence. Just be mindful to run very slowly.

No runner wants to get super fit and then lose that during the recovery process. But since you must reduce your training load following your marathon, it can be difficult as to how much and how soon to insert running into your post-marathon training.

1When should marathon runners return to full training?

A. About half a month after the competition.

B. A few days after soreness disappears.

C. Before the tissues recover completely.

D. Before the next game draws closer.

2How can marathon runners reduce their muscle soreness?

A. Through family care.

B. By doing gentle exercise.

C. Through medical treatment.

D. By removing damaged tissue.

3Which of the following best explains “commence” underlined in Paragraph 3?

A. Fit.B. Heal.

C. Start.D. Mend.

4What can be a suitable title for the text?

A. Reducing Training LoadB. Soreness with Sports

C. Healing Muscle SorenessD. Recovery after Marathon
