The earth, our planet, is a beautiful blue and white ball when seen from space．It is the third planet from the sun in the Solar system．It travels around the sun all the time and gets heat and light from it．About 70 percent of the earth's surface is covered with water．The earth is the only planet on which water can exist in liquid form on the surface and is the only one known to support life because of its atmosphere and moderate temperature, weather and many other factors．
