Passport Control（护照验证处）

If you are arriving at London Heathrow Airport and are not transferring to another flight outside Britain or Northern Ireland, you must pass through Passport Control and Customs immediately after leaving your plane. If you are not Britain or a citizen of the European Community（欧共体），you must fill out a special form before your passport is examined. This form is called a landing card and should be given to you during the flight to London.

After landing, follow the ARRIVALS signs. Make sure you are in the right  channel when you reach Passport Control. There is one channel for holders of European Community Passports, and a second channel marked “Other Passports”.

Baggage Reclaim Area（取行李处）

After passing through the Passport Control, follow the signs to the Baggage Reclaim Area. If you have luggage which is carried in the aircraft hold, it will be  delivered to you in the Baggage Reclaim Area. Look for the sign with your flight number. If you have only hand luggage, go directly through the Baggage Reclaim Area to the Customs.

Customs

All passengers must pass Customs after Passport Control. There is a choice of two channels: Green and Red. If you have nothing to declare, go through the Green Channel. If you are not sure about your Duty Free allowance（免税限额）or if you have something to declare, go through the Red Channel. Information about Duty Free allowance can found on special notice boards in the Baggage Reclaim Area. You should study this information carefully whether you are going through the Red Channel or not. Please note that if you go through the Green Channel, you may be stopped and asked to open your luggage for inspection.

7 ways a government shutdown will affect your daily life

(CNN) -- Democrats and Republicans were unable to resolve (解决) their differences over Obamacare (奥巴马医改计划）and now the government is shut down. The two previous shutdowns — 1995 and early 1996 — cost the country $1.4 billion. But what will the shutdown mean for you? Here are 7 ways the government shutdown will affect you.

7. Vacation all I ever wanted: Need to get away? Well, you can’t. At least not to national parks. Or to national zoos. Or to national museums. They'll be closed. Free Admission to Hundreds of Museums Sept.25

  What a weekend! This Saturday, Sept.25, hundreds of U.S. museums admission free for the Smithsonian’s annual Museum Day.

Unlike previous Museum Day celebrations, you must sign up for a free ticket that admits two people to any of the participating museums. That means filling out a form and having the ticket emailed to you. Not bad for a freebie that will give you admission to museums such as the Adler Planetarium in Chicago and the Air & Space Museum in San Diego.

   Some participating museums are closed on Saturday, so they offer free admission on Sunday, Sept.26, instead.

Free Admission to National Parks & Public Lands

  Would you rather visit a National Park for free instead of a museum for free? The choice is yours on Saturday, Sept.25, as all 392National Parks and all other national public lands are admission free for National Public Lands Day. The fee-free day for national parks, forests, monuments and other public lands falls on the same day as the Smithsonian Museum Day, when hundreds of U. S. museums are also admission free.

   If you love the outdoors, consider signing up or just show up for one of the volunteer projects at the public lands sites on Saturday. Spend the morning helping clean up and restore our national natural treasures, then spend the afternoon just enjoying and exploring them.

FREE Night of Theater Across the U. S in October

  Hark! ‘Tis a chance to see this thing called the play, and not just Mr. Shakespeare’s! It’s the annual run of the Free Night of Theater, when hundreds of theaters in 120 U. S. cities give away thousands of tickets to local productions.

  While the kickoff date is October 15, many of the theaters start releasing their free tickets by Oct. 1 or in waves during the month of October for performance dates throughout the month. Ticket seekers are limited to two tickets for one performance.
