Taste is suc．h a subjective matter that we dori't usually conduct preference tests for food． The most you can say about anyone's preference is that it's one person's opinion．But because the two bigcola companies-Coca-Cola and Pepsi Cola-are marketed so aggressively, we've wondered how big arole taste-preference actually plays in brand loyalty．We set up a taste test that challenged people who identified themselves as either Coca-cola or Pepsi fans: Find your brand in a blind tasting．

Getting all four samples right was a tough test, biit not too tough, we thought, for people whobelieved they could recognize their brand． In the end, only 7 0ut of 19 regular cola drinkers correct-ly identified their brand of choice in all four trial．s． The diet-cola drinkers did a little worse-only 7 out of 27 identified all four samples correctly．
Both groups did better than chance would predict, but nearly half the participants in each group made the wrong choice two or more times．Two people got all'four samples vrrong． Overall, hal．f theparticipants did about as well on the last round of tasting as on the first, so tiredness, or taste burn-out, was not a factor． Our preference test results suggest that only a few Pepsi participants and Coke fans may really be able to tell their favorite brand by taste and price．

Despite rising education levels, Americans of every age are reading less and less for pleasure these days, according to an analysis by the National Endowment for the Arts. The decline(下降) could have bad effects as people tune out books, tune in popular culture and become less socially engaged.

The study gathers years of data on Americans' reading habits and finds that, at every age group, we're reading less.

Three Central Texas men were honored with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Director’s Award in a Tuesday morning ceremony for their heroism in saving the victims of a fiery two – car accident.

The accident occurred March 25 when a vehicle lost control while traveling on a rain soaked State Highway 6 near Baylor Camp Road. It slammed into an oncoming vehicle, leaving the occupants trapped inside as both vehicles burst into flames.

Bonge was the first on the scene and heard children screaming. He broke through a back window and pulled Mallory Smith, 10, and her sister, Megan Smith, 9, from the wreckage.

The girls’ mother，Beckis Smith，was not with them-、at the time of the wreck，as they were traveling with their baby slitter，Lisa Bowbin．

Beckie Smith still remembers the sickening feeling she had upon receiving the call informing her of the wreck and the despair as she drove to the scene．

Bozeman and Clemmons arrived shortly after Bonge and helped rescue the other victims and attempted to put out the fires．

“I was nervous，” Bozeman said. “I don’t feel like I’m a hero．I was just doing what anyone should do in that situation．I hope someone would do the same for me.”

Everyone at the accident made it out alive，with the victims sustaining nonlife-threatening injuries. Mallory Smith fractured both femurs，and Megan had neck and back injuries．Bowbin is still recovering from a broken pelvis，ankle and foot．

The rescuers also were taken to the hospital and treated for cuts and smoke inhalation，Bonge said.
