     I am writing this letter to reflect some problems I've come across recently and appeal for the
improvement of the service industry.
     Last week I bought an English dictionary in a bookstore near my home . But when I came home and
read carefully, I found that several pages of the dictionary had been missing .What was worse, the
misprints spread everywhere in the dictionary and seriously affected my comprehension. I went to the
bookstore to ask for a replacement. But to my surprise, the staff of the bookstore turned down my
request rudely and even denied the poor quality of the dictionary.
     It goes without saying that today's market-oriented economy calls for much higher standard for the
service industry. However, to my regret, many of them fail to achieve this standard and the quality of the
staff needs to be improved. This certainly will not only deeply disappoint customers but hold back the
development of our country's economy. Therefore, I expect your newspaper to appeal to the service
industry to attach more importance to the service improvement.
