　　Every country has its heroes. They may be soldiers or sports people, doctors or film stars. We admire them for their courage, their strength, their devotion to duty or their talent. Their example encourages us to live better, to work harder.

　　Terry Fox was a young student who loved life and who loved sports. When he was just 18 years old a terrible tragedy occurred: his right leg had to be cut off because of cancer. Such an experience would have destroyed a weaker person, but Terry Fox was a fighter. He refused to give up. Instead, while he was recovering from the operation, an idea slowly formed in his mind. Through television, every home saw his particular way of running, a kind of half-hop and half-run. Thousands of people lined the route to encourage him and to wish him well. They also gave money for fighting cancer. Then, on September the first 1980, after 143 days and more than 5000 kilometres completed, everything came tragically to an end. Terry had to stop. He lived on for another nine months and died on June 18th, 1981. He was almost 23.

Comment on: Karin’s Holiday Cottage

Karin’s Holiday Cottage is really worth the price for lower earners. Walking along the beach, we saw many fish and turtles. We had a rental car because it was a little far from the shopping center. But we found the windows needed to be open to allow air in, and the cottage didn’t have air conditioning but with the 3 ceiling fans. Anyway we stayed plenty cool.

We hosted a conference last month at the Arison Centre Hotel - a charming hotel. The modern and large rooms are air-conditioned and fully-equipped with private safe, wireless Internet access and all new equipments. This hotel is great for the value. I was impressed by how attentive the staff were. I left my room without locking the door. The cleaning lady noticed and immediately informed me. Staying in the hotel made my trip a pleasant one. But we wouldn’t come again because of the walk. You can’t just hop down to the beach or the bar - 200 steep steps each way – so exhausted.

Tastefully located on an island, the hotel is good, with its staff helpful and its price reasonable. Don’t drive a car, for most of the tourist spots were walking distance, or you can go everywhere by boat. If you like sea food, island setting, and wine, this is excellent.

I believe in leaving work at five o’clock. In a nation with such a strict work ethic(道德规范) , this is considered strange. Working only 40 hours a week? I just don’t know many people who punch out (打卡下班) at five o’clock anymore.
