Canada is the second largest country in the world. The distance from east to west is over 5,500 kilometers and the country covers six of the world's 24 time zones. The population of Canada is about 29 million and the capital is Ottawa. There are two official languages, French and English.

As in China, the weather in Canada is different from area to area. In the north, the winters are long and hard, while the west coast of Canada is a fairly warm place in winter. Canada has one third of the world's supply of fresh water. Much of the country is covered by forests. Fishing is also very important for Canadians. Fish from the east and west coasts is sold to many other countries.
