解析:
Text 1 M:Excuse me, where is the closest place to eat? W:Down the street about four blocks, I can take you there if you like. Text 2 M:I would be happy to teach you Chinese if you want to learn. W:It is not a bad idea.I come to China a lot. Text 3 W:Are these carpets on sale, too? M:No, These are selling at the regular price, four hundred and ninety-five. Text 4 M:Could you please tell me if the Miami flight will be arriving on time? W:Yes, sir.It should be arriving in about ten minutes. Text 5 M:Good afternoon. This is Mr.White at the Friendship Hotel. Is Mr.Black there? W:No, he is out for lunch.I'll be glad to take a message. 第二节 Text 6 M:Hello, Jane. W:Hello, Gill.Have you ever been to the Ocean Park? M:No, but I'm going there tomorrow morning. W:well, you'll like it.You'll find a lot of kinds of fish there. What about the Science Museum? Have you been there yet? M:Yes, I went there yesterday afternoon. We can learn a lot there. W:Yes, all the visitors coming to our city will surely go to visit the museum.By the way, don't forget to try some of the restaurants here. The food is great here. M:Yes, I certainly will. Text 7 M:And what's the next problem? W:Why do English people so often say something about the weather when they begin talking with strangers? M:Well, of course, the weather in England is always changing. We never know what to expect if you were in a country where the weather doesn't change much, it would be difficult to say much about it.But you asked why we talk about the weather to strangers. That's an interesting question. It's probably because the weather is a safe subject to talk about. W:It's a way of reaching an agreement M:Ayes.I begin by saying,“A cold morning, isn't it?”The other man says,“It certainly is.”I say,“It's been cold all week.”And the other man says,“Yes, we're having a very cold spring.” W:So far you've agreed about everything. M:Yes.Then we're beginning to feel friendly. But if we start with subjects on which disagreement is possible, politics, for example, we might not have become friendly. Text 8 W:We're going through the Suez Canal now, Mr.Hunt. M:Hmm…it doesn't look very wide. How wide is it? W:About 60 meters…and it's 162 kilometers long. M:Really? This is a big ship. How deep is the Canal? W:The average depth is about 10 meters…but they're going to make it deeper. M:That will be a hard job, I'm sure. W:Yes, it is.Well, Mr.Hunt, are you going to Cairo today? M:Oh yes!…How far is it? W:It's about 150 kilometers. M:Good. How long will it take to get there? W:Only three hours. Text 9 Could I have your attention, please? Thank you. As I told you yesterday morning, this afternoon is our shopping afternoon. If you look on the back page of your tour programme, you'll see a little map of the city centre, with the names of some of the shops marked. As you won't have too much time, I'm just going to explain to you what they sell. We're now in the Friendship shopping centre. On your right is Larp's, a very good place for shoes and boots, rather than gloves, bags clothes or others.Opposite that is Li-Ning, a good place for sports goods. Not cheap, but really pretty.Next door to Li-Ning is a place for books. They have got books on almost every subject anyone has ever written about, airplanes to animals, but Chinese only-so none of your English books, I'm afraid. If you walk along, there are shops which sell cameras, radios, and so on, which you won't buy, I'm afraid. If you are tired or would like to have a nice cup of afternoon tea, I suggest Splendid Tea Shop, where you can have British afternoon tea, with very good home-made cakes, chocolates and others. The shop is two blocks away from here, but within walking distance. Text 10 China's trains will become faster than ever in April as the travel time between Beijing and Shanghai is reduced from 14 hours to just 12 hours. The railway system has been sped up for four times since 1997.And this time, on April 18,2004, trains will travel at speeds of 160 kilometres per hour(kph)and above on tracks across the country. This new high-speed rail service will cover 7,700 kilometres of tracks across China. The Ministry of Railways is already planning a sixth speed-up for 2005, with some trains expected to reach 200 kph.Meanwhile, plans are still in place for the 120 billion yuan, 1,300kilometre, high-speed Beijing-Shanghai railway. It is expected to shorten the travelling time between the two cities to less than five hours. |
