WHEN people speak about the Chinese women’s volleyball team, most of the time they don’t just refer to a sporting group.____ 1.________.

The team won its fourth World Cup victory by defeating host team Japan 3-1 on Sept 6. This has been its first world title in the 11 years since it won at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004.

What has the team gone through, and what has made it rise again?

Once a world superpower in women’s volleyball, China was almost unbeatable (不可战胜的) between 1981 and 1986. ___2._______.

But the retirement (退役) of the players who won in Athens led to a period of difficulty. The newcomers didn’t perform well enough and coaches changed too often.

______3._____. She had led the Chinese to the 1981 and 1985 World Cup titles as a player. As head coach, she “brought in fresh air, using more young players boldly (大胆地)”, according to Xinhua. As a result, young players got more chances to train and play for the national team.

But things never go exactly (恰好) as planned. 4._______. Lang had to find replacements (替补) quickly from her two years of buildup (积累).

There were more things to do. She had to calm down her girls. “It’s still too far to see who will win,” she told them. Assistant coach Lai Yawen knew all about the effort made by 54-year-old Lang, who spent less than four hours sleeping every day during the World Cup. “Lang has to study the videos showing the other countries’ players’ movements and skills every night,” Lai told paper.cn.

Her players fought just as hard as she did. Zhu Ting, 20, asked to return to a game after South Korea took the lead. She had left because of an injury.

She said the injury was “not a big deal”. Only after she had helped the team win that game did she tell reporters: “My ankles (脚踝) were really in pain, but I hid it.”

_5.___________. “Luck finally gave us a chance to win. I believe chance only favors prepared people,” Lang told Xinhua.

Or, as Xinhua said, it was the girls’ “hard work, unity and perseverance (坚持)” that won them the World Cup.

A.Chinese team was known by many people at that time.

B. The term has come to mean an amazing team spirit.

C. Though the team has met many injuries, they still overcome(克服) them.

D. After the team finished fifth at the 2012 London Games, Lang Ping took over as head coach the next year.

E. Before going to Japan, some key players were injured.

F. During that time, the team won two world championships, two World Cups, and one Olympics.

G. The 2015 World Cup title didn’t come easy but the team made it.

Speaking from my past experience, it is very difficult to find good friends that you can trust but once you have found them, they are worth keeping forever! Therefore, I think friendship is the most important relationship that anybody could have.

The qualities I look for in a friend are a good sense of humor but sensitivity when it matters. Also that friend would have to be strong-minded and highly spirited. I think that these qualities are the key qualities to look for in a good friend.

Even the strongest friends can still have arguments, although usually about more serious topics, rather than the usual teenage childish arguments. Some matters can seriously affect a friendship. If one of your friends started experimenting with harmful and dangerous drugs, what would you do ? A good friend would try to help as much as possible, whereas a bad example of a friend would simply shrug(耸肩) and turn a blind eye.

Not only the bad things affect friendship ---- good activities do too. Such as bonding with one another, not just by going out on a night with them but by spending quality time with them and talking to each other, which indicates a good ability to communicate. This is a key aspect of a good friendship.

Good friends do not always have to be in the same age group as you. I have a good friend and she is 47 years old and I am 16.

Unfortunately, some people lose contact with their friends as they grow older, which is a sad way to lose a good friend.

I think friendship is one of the most important things in life because if you have no friends you will have no happiness.

School Counseling(咨询)

In our grandparents' time, it was unthinkable. In our parents' time, it was unusual and nobody spoke openly about counseling. These days, more and more schools are asking for this service and it is considered a necessity for most. Why is it? What has changed in the last fifty years to have made counseling at schools so important?

“One reason is that we expect schools to do more to protect their pupils than we did in the past," says school counselor, Mike Hudson.“ Also, our society doesn't work as well as it should. Many parents are either under pressure of work or face the economic problems of unemployment, while children are under more and more pressure to do well at school. Many pupils feel they are pushed to their limits by their parents and teachers."

Most school children face some kind of relationship problem at some stage with family members, teachers or other pupils, so.it helps to have somebody to talk to.

From the pupil' s point of view, it is easier to talk to a counselor in confidence rather than a family member or teacher. This solution is less embarrassing to pupils, who are not forced to face the person that they had problems with in the first place. They can calmly talk things through without arguments.

School counselors advise not only students but also their teachers and parents, and offer other services as well, such as deciding learning disabilities or assisting parents and guardians to make the correct decisions about their children' s education.

Counselors can help students with problems ranging from the most serious, like a death in the family, to what an adult would consider really trivial, like an argument with a friend.

In a society that is becoming more and more stressful, this service is providing children with a supportive way to express their fear and worries.
