Flat photos may never be out of fashion. But if you are a creative person who is always ¡¾1¡¿ for new things, you may consider printing a photo of yourself in 3D.

In December, the Omote 3D photo booth, the world¡¯s first 3D photo booth that can ¡¾2¡¿ action-figure-size versions of people, was opened in Japan. Less than a month later, two 3D photo booths of this kind were opened in Beijing and Xi¡¯an, bringing the cutting-edge ¡¾3¡¿ even closer to home.

Omote 3D is taking the photo booth into the next dimension by ¡¾4¡¿ customers the chance to be full-body scanned and given a plastic figurine-pocket-size (ÐäÕäµÄСµñÏñ) mini-me of themselves.

¡°The photo studio is a very ¡¾5¡¿ place for Japanese families to shape their memories, ¡±Naoki Ito, creative director of branding agency, told The London Guardian. ¡°Our idea is to ¡¾6¡¿ to capture you and your family¡¯s portraits (ФÏñ) in 3D.¡±

The ¡¾7¡¿ involves a 15-minute scan with a handheld scanner, during which the ¡¾8¡¿ must stay completely still, in the manner of early portrait photography¡ªno doubt ¡¾9¡¿ in similarly rigid (½©Ó²µÄ) poses and fixed stares. The scanner cannot yet detect small, detailed patterns or shiny materials, nor can it ¡¾10¡¿ small accessories (ÅäÊÎ) such as earrings, glasses or bags.
