M: This is the six o'clock News. A small plane carrying aid to the quake-hit Chilean city of Concepcion has crashed killing six people. Meanwhile the Australian government will donate a million dollars towards the emergency response to the earthquake and tsunami. At least 720 people have been confirmed dead.

W: A huge body of water has caused flooding in south-western Queensland, Australia. The flooding is now on its way south and it is expected to cause widespread flooding in New South Wales over the next two months. The weather bureau said flooding could be expected at many small towns along the Culgoa, Paroo and Warrego rivers over the next week. It also warned that towns further downstream, such as Bourke and Louth, could experience serious flooding over the next month. The Insurance Council of Australia has declared the event a big disaster, and the damage bill is expected to be over $200 million.

M: Europe: At least 50 people have been killed in storms across Europe. Winds about 240 kilometers an hour caused chaos as they moved from Portugal, through Spain and France. French coastal villages are flooded and more than a million homes are without power. We'll be back with more news later.

答案解析:

(1)正确答案为B。根据A small plane carrying aid to the quake-hit Chilean city of Concepcion 一架向地震灾区智利康塞普西翁市运送救援物资的小飞机,可知小飞机运送的是救援物资,而选项中只有B,帐篷符合救援物资的概念,因此B项正确。

(2)正确答案为A。根据 The flooding is now on its way south 目前洪水正在向南移动。可知,下个被洪水侵袭的地区可能是昆士兰南部地区,因此A项正确。

(3)正确答案为B。根据 more than a million homes are without power 超过1百万个家庭断电。可知,暴雨使欧洲断电,因此B项正确。
