It was almost 9:00 pm when Mia Janson left her office to go home. It was1. She started her car and2down the dark road that led to her house in the country.
She3the radio and listened to songs while she was driving. The heater wasn’t working, and singing helped to keep her4.
The snow was heavy. Then Mia went across a small5. The bridge was covered with ice and the car went out of control. Mia hit her head on the steering wheel and lost consciousness(知觉).
When she woke up, her head was bleeding (流血),and she was shaking from the cold. She didn’t know6she was. Mia opened the car door and looked around. She was under the bridge, and her car was sitting on the frozen river! She felt very sad. She7the ice wouldn’t hold her car for very long. She tried to walk up several times, but she kept falling into the snow. Mia tried8time. She fell again, but this time she couldn’t get up. She knew that9could see her car under the bridge. She was lying in the snow, and she couldn’t move. Mia closed her eyes and waited to die.
Then she heard a voice. Mia10her eyes. There was an old man standing over her. She stood up and walked up with the help of the old man. “That’s my truck”, said the old man. “Get in and I’11 take you home.”

Do you want to be successful in everything you do? If so, then how? Here is an example.
There was a farmer who1corn(玉米)all his life. Each year he took his corn to the market. Then each time his corn was chosen as the2and won the first prize.
One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something surprising about how he grew it. The farmer3his seed(做种子的) corn to his neighbors.
"How can you share your best seed corn with your neighbors?" the reporter asked. "You know they are taking part in the4with you each year."
"Why, sir," said the farmer, "didn't you know? The5picks up pollen (花粉) from the corn and moves it quickly from field to field. If my neighbors grow6corn, cross-pollination (异花传粉) will affect the quality of my corn. So if I want to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors to grow good corn. "
The farmer knows much about the connection of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor's corn improves.
As a great man says, "We make a living by what we grow; we make a life by what we give." We can't7without food, clothes, and many other things. However, a meaningful life is not decided by how much we can get,8by how much we can give others. Giving, instead of taking, makes us9from other animals.
So those who choose to live well must help others to live well and those who choose to be happy must help others to find10in their life.
