A young man was about to finish school. For a long time he had1to get a beautiful sports car. He knew his father could well2it, so he told him that a sports car was all he wanted.
Then on the morning of his graduation(毕业),he was called to his father’s room. His father told him how3he was to have such a fine son, and told him how4he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful gift box.5, the young man opened the box and found a lovely Bible(圣经)with his name on it. Angrily, he raised his6to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible? " He then7out of the house, leaving the Bible.
Many years passed and the young man was very8in business, and had a beautiful home and a wonderful family.9that his father was very old, he thought perhaps he should go to see him. He had not seen him10that graduation day. Before he could go, he received a11telling him that his father had died. He had to go home immediately and take12of the things that his father left him.
When he began to search through his father’s importantpapers, he saw the still new Bible,13as he had leftit years ago. He opened the Bible and began to14the pages. As he was reading, a car key with a tag(标牌)dropped from the back of the Bible. On the tag was the15of his graduation, and the words "PAID IN FULL". Sadness and regret(悔恨)filled his heart.

One in four Chinese primary school students say they are too busy to eat fruit every day, while many dislike fruit for the simple reason that their 1tell them to eat it.
That is the result of a recent survey 2the Chinese Association for Student Nutrition & Health Promotion(中国学生营养和健康促进协会), who last month issued a questionnaire among 1,500 children in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. They3 28 percent didn't eat fruit every day and of those who did, one in seven did not eat enough.
Among students who didn't eat fruit every day, 50 percent said it was because they "didn't have time" and 40 percent of those who didn't like fruit said it was because "my parents4 me to".
"Fruit is a natural source of many nutritional elements(营养元素), can balance a person's nutritional intake and help to 5overweight(超重)," says Association director Du Yuxia.
He says about 20 percent of primary school students in Beijing and Guangzhou are overweight, while the figure is 630 percent in Shanghai.
Hu Xiaoqi, a nutrition expert with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), believes a student should eat at least 150 grams of fruit a day. Moreover, fruit juice is not an adequate substitute because the fruit 7 contains more fiber and vitamins than juices, which are usually high in sugar and contain preservatives.
Hu says primary school students should be encouraged to eat one or two fruits every day. 8many students found they didn't have time to eat fruit before breakfast or in the evening, they should be encouraged to 9fruit to school and eat it during class breaks . Finally, she suggests that parents encourage their children to eat fruit, instead of forcing them.
Ma Guansheng, deputy 10of the CDC's Nutrition and Food Safety Institution(营养和食品安全机构), says: "6-12 years old is a crucial time for physical development. Children at this age need an adequate and balanced nutritional supply to guarantee the normal growth of the body."

People of Burlington are being disturbed by the sound of bells. Four students from Burlington College of Higher Education are in the bell tower of the church and have made up their minds to 1the bells nonstop for two weeks as a protest(抗议) against heavy trucks which run 2through the narrow High Street.“They not only make it 3to sleep at night, but they are doing damage(损害) to our houses and shops of historical 4,”
said John Norris, one of the protesters.
5we must have these noisy trucks on the roads,” said Jean Lacey, a biology student, “why don’t they build a new road that goes round the town? Burlington isn’t much more than a6village. Its streets were never meant for heavy traffic”.
Harry Fields also studying 7said they wanted to make as much noise as possible to force the government officials to realize what everybody was having to stand. “Most of them don’t live here anyway,” he said, “they come in for meetings and the Town Hall is soundproof(隔音的), so they probably don’t 8. It’s high time they realized the problem.” The fourth student, Liza Vernum, said she thought the public were mostly on their side, and even if they weren’t they soon would be.
I asked if they were 9that the police might come to stop them.
“Not really,” she said, “actually we are suitable bellringers. I mean we are assistant bellringers for the church. There is no 10against practising.”
I left the church with the sound of the bells ringing in my ears.
