Dreams are like stars. You may never catch them, but if you follow them, they will lead you to success.Yan Ning is such a dream follower.

Yan is a rising star in the science world. When Yan Ning was only a little girl, she dreamed of being a great scientist. After years of hard work,in 1996,she went to Tsinghua University to study biology. After graduating from Tsinghua in 2000,she went to Princeton University and finished her study abroad in 2007.Then she returned to Tsinghua and set up her own lab.At the age of 30,she became the youngest professor(教授)at Tsinghua.

Now.Yan,42,has become a leading biology researcher at Princeton. On April 30,she was included among the 100 new members and 25 foreign associates(院士)into the US Natinal Academy of Science(国家料学院)

However,it was a long and difficult road for her to make such achievements. She said that in order to realize her dream, she expericnced a lot of failures and pains. But she never gave up her dream.Instead, she followed her dream and fought for it.

She usually works at least I4 hours a day.Sometimes she even forgets to eat and rest and works until late night. She never gets tired because she thinks doing research is the most"comfortable"job for her.

In a TV interview,Yan encouraged young people to work hard for their dreams."All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to follow them."

We usually see ancient plants or insects in amber(琥珀). But recently, a group of researchers found something unusual in amber — a feathered tail!

The tail includes bones, soft tissue and even feathers. It is 37 mm long, which is about the length of a matchstick. It looks like a plant at first sight. But researchers later identified(确定) it as part of the tail of a dinosaur that couldn’t fly almost 100 million years ago.

Xing Lida of Beijing’s China University of Geosciences discovered the amber in a market in Myanmar in 2015. “It is an amazing fossil(化石) and the finest details of feathers can be seen in 3-D.” he said.

The researchers note in their paper that this finding is particularly special because, although dinosaur feathers have been found in amber before, we don’t know which dinosaurs they came from. But this time researchers know more.

The tail is likely to belong to a tiny dinosaur called coelurosaur. Famous coelurosaurs include the T-rex(霸王龙) and Velociraptor(迅猛龙) — the latter of which would finally evolve into birds.

So with the “once in a lifetime” finding, can we hope for the possibility of a real Jurassic Park (侏罗纪公园)? In the movie series, scientists bring dinosaurs back to life by getting their DNA from blood found in amber.

But Canadian scientist Ryan Mckellar said that although soft tissue and blood of the tail were found in the amber, no genetic material was kept. “The Jurassic Park answer is still a ‘no’ — this is in the science fiction.” he said.

1.What do you know about the amber?

2.What does the underlined phrase “evolve into” in Paragraph 5 mean?

A.come into B.break into C.grow into D.get into

In 1992, a group of architects(建筑师)and engineers in Seattle had collected hundreds of canned goods for charity. “We wanted to give back to the community,” said Deborah Ashcraft, organizer for the Construction project. Volunteers also wanted to have some “creative fun,” so they used the cans to create a huge map of the State of Washington.

Today Construction has thousands of volunteers across the United States and Canada, for the purpose of creating a world without hunger. Construction members build their delicious artwork in shopping areas and museums.

In some cities, such as Tampa Bay, Florida, Construction artists are made up of school kids, “Our class built a Wurlitzer organ(风琴)out of cans,” said Jasmine Heaggans, a student at Lanier Elementary. “We based ours on the 77-year-old organ at the Tampa Theater.”

Beginning in September, architects Danni Anstett and Danielle Williams visited class weekly. After a field trip to see the real Wurlitzer, the architects showed the class how to draw pictures of the organ from all sides. They instructed students to do a plan view. And they helped the young artists count up how many cans would be used.

On October 24, Construction workers from Lanier and three other Tampa Bay schools gathered at the local shopping area to build and display their artworks. The students got to stack (堆)cans. With 1,800 cans, Lanier students had nine hours to get the Wurlitzer ready for the judges.

“The cans had to be perfectly stacked,” student Courtney Keenam recalled, “or everything would fall.”

After four hours, the students were feeling pretty good. The organ was taking shape. Then the kids had an “uh-oh” moment. The cans were facing the wrong way. They had to be turned around.

At last, the Wurlitzer stood shiny and tall, just in time for the judges to name it “most creative.”

1.What is the aim of the Construction project?

A.To sell canned food. B.To end world hunger.

C.To bring people much fun. D.To build better communities.

2.How did Anstett and Williams help the young volunteers?

A.By helping design the artwork. B.By building an organ with cans.

C.By drawing pictures of an organ. D.By offering them a real Wurlitzer organ.

3.Why did the students come together on October 24?

A.To collect cans used by the shopping area. B.To do volunteer work for the shopping area.

C.To enter a can building competition. D.To get more people to join Construction.

4.What does “it” in the last paragraph refer to?

A.The real Wurlitzer organ. B.The 77-year-old organ at the Tampa Theater.

C.The huge map of the State of Washington. D.The Wurlitzer organ built out of cans.

The University of St Andrews is the setting of royal(皇家的) love: on the grounds of this great Scottish university Prince William and Kate Middleton first met and fell in love.

More than that, St Andrews is Scotland's first university and one of the oldest universities in the English-speaking world. Built in 1413 (just after Oxford and Cambridge), over 6 hundred years, the university has been well known as one of Europe's leading and most special centers for teaching and research.

The location of St Andrews is in a small, historical town to the coast of North East Scotland. The university itself is the perfect place for learning. On average(平均) one in three people you see in the street have something to do with the university. You start to feel very quickly that you belong.

As a student in St Andrews, playing golf is a must. With the town itself known around the world as “The Home of Golf”, the university is within minutes of the ancient golf-playing ground in the world, the Old Course, just near the sea. Students can take a break from their studies by enjoying a game of golf, and the university itself is a popular place to go.

It has one of the lowest dropout(辍学) rates in the UK---98 percent of students complete their degree. Perhaps its popularity is in part because of the fact that St Andrews is good for nearly every subject. It has long been among the UK's top five.
