It's not easy to be an astronaut's son. ________expects you to be special or perfect. I often wonder how my father ever had a son like me. I mean he is so________that there's nothing he can't do. Even in middle school he was the captain(队长) of the school football team.

To be honest, I often hope to do something great like my father. I was daydreaming at school one morning when my teacher said there would be a Father’s Day________competition for the whole school. “I hope we have a________in my class.”

When I got home, I stared to________what to write. My father is an astronaut. No, I wouldn't start like that. That was the way others saw him. How did I see my father? I saw him sitting with me in the dark when I had a________dream. I remembered how he hugged me for hours when my dog Spotty was killed by a car. Yes, these were the things I was going to write. To me, he wasn't just a world-famous________. He was my dad.

My parents and I went to school on Thursday afternoon. The hall was full of people. I went up to the stage and read what I had written. “My father's son”. When I finished, everyone stood up and cheered. Tears were running down my dad's face________he was a strong man in my mind.

Finally, I won the first prize. Dad put his hand on my shoulder and said,“Darling, this is the most________Father's Day gift I have ever received and I'm really proud of you!”

It was the proudest moment of my life, too. Maybe I'll________be a great hero or win a Nobel Prize, but it was enough just to be my father's son.

Before winter arrives, many kinds of birds start to fly south. People often call it migration. How much do you know about migration? Why do only some birds migrate? How do birds know when to go south? Can they find their way?

Some birds fly south because they may die from hunger if they don't do that. The woodpecker(啄木鸟),for example, doesn't need to fly south because it can find something to eat in the bark(树皮) of the trees. But some birds eat grains(谷物). Their food disappears in winter, so they must fly south where food can still be found. But why don't they stay there forever? Perhaps they know if they stay in the south, they will eat up food there, too.

Birds seem to know when winter comes because they find that the days are getting shorter in winter. Once they leave from the north, the sun is really helpful. The sun is in different positions in the sky at different time of a day. Birds know the time of the day by watching the position of the sun. On long flights, most of the birds use stars to navigate(导航) their way.

The homing pigeon(信鸽) doesn't use the sun or the stars. Scientists believe that it uses the magnetic field(磁场) of the earth. One of the most amazing migrations is that of the tiny hummingbird(蜂鸟). It travels from Canada to Mexico—a long distance of over 3600 kilometers.

Imagine this. Someone hides free books on the subway for you to find and read. Sounds exciting? Well, a British girl named Emma Watson is doing it! She is known for acting as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies.

Watson hid 100 copies of a book called Mom & Me & Mom on London's subway. The book is an autobiography(自传) from US writer Maya Angelou. It tells about the writer's relationship with her mother. She put the books in different places on the subway. People saw Watson doing the same thing on New York's subway this month.”

With each book, there is a handwritten note by Watson. She asked people to “take special care” of the books if they find them. She also wrote that “when you are finished, please leave it on the subway again for someone else to find”.

Watson's work is part of a movement(活动) called Books on the Subway. It invites people to leave their books on the subway so that other people can enjoy them too.

Hollie Belton, a woman in London, started the movement in 2012. She loves reading on the subway. She found that a lot of people shared her habit so she got the idea. Over the years, Belton has left over 2000 books of her own. Nowadays more and more people get interested in the movement because of her.

Watson is a book lover as well. That's why she tried it earlier last year, Watson set up her own online book club Our Shared Shelf. Now she reads one book every month with the club members. Mom & Me & Mom is the club's book for January this year.
